Have any of you installed the new updated float bowls for the RX-1 Mountain?
I recieved the kit from my out of state dealer with no instructions. There's a new float bowl, a main jet holder and two O rings. It's pretty straight forward but I do have one question. The smaller thicker O ring I understand to go on the main jet holder where it threads into the carb body.
Where the thinnner (slightly larger) O ring goes is my question? I am guessing it goes in the float bowl under the main jet holder but that's only because it looks like the only place it would fit.
I could sure use any guidance you could give me on this installation. Powder Blue

PS: I installed my E brake and Holtzman carb slide springs as well.

i dont know about your float bowls but i would recomend that you get allen bolts to replace the philps screws that hold the bowels on. i did this and it shure makes life a lot nicer when changeing jet,s. and those philps srews are though to get out. the philps heads kind of take a beating. :D

Good point! It looks like the dealer had had to us vice grips to remove them when he'd rejetted the sled for my elevation. I had one that stripped out but luckily I had a spare. Thanks. Powder Blue

canadian tire hase lots of these allen bolts. metic and sae so be caful when buying bolts. john

Powder Blue, Take out the main jet, screw in that jet tube extension with the little "O" ring on it where the main jet was then screw the main jet into that new tube and install the float bowl. I put a tiny bit of oil on my finger and wipe it on the "O" ring that way it goes together easier and less chance of damaging the "O" ring as it slides into that pick up tube cast into the float bowl. I also set my floats to 13mil and mine works great.

hey Power Blue ,how much did you pay for the new float bowls. Were can I send for a set,THANKS AGAIN. :D

Blue Shadow, I don't think you can buy a set of them (yet at least). The way I understand it; Yamaha only sent them out to the "squeeky wheels" who complained about their sleds cutting out while climbing (or those of us who saw they were complaining and said deal me in or I'm squealing). I have no clue if they intend on offering them as an optional item for others. I'd ask your dealer about it and tell him you plan to ride out west this winter and don't want to experience the "engine cutting out" problems other have experienced. Best of luck but, sorry mine aren't for sale. PB
