Hi everyone-

I'm making the jump to a 4 stroke, and have decided on an Apex. Within my budget, and based on what's for sale locally, I could either afford an Attak, or an Apex GT. For someone that does 95% trail riding, and is a bigger guy (6'1", 275), would you choose the longer track, or the 121" with Ohlins suspension. The few long track GT's for sale locally are out of my budget... I'm leaning towards the Attak but would like to hear from folks that own these sleds-

Thanks in advance!

Attak x2. Better ride, traction, faster. You can always update shock package later.

Attak X3. Think about how many people bought the 121 and then went to great lengths to extend it...........especially being a bigger guy.

There is a nice 2009 Apex LTX here in NH for sale for $5000 with low miles..nice deal..
I'm 6'2 weight 250lbs...get an Attak...and a big boy spring and revalve from Pioneer Performance...enjoy the ride. I've got 16000 miles total on Attaks..

Thanks all. 136" it is. I look forward to tapping into the great info here!

It's a great reliable trail sled. I added the extra wheel kits on the bend and mid back area to help with hi fax wear. But it was the Pioneer drop down kit with new stock wheels that made the difference. There are a lot if threads to read on TY. Enjoy.

X2 on this and you will never regret the extra expense.

Just picked up an 06 Attak in VT last night. Already have my summer project list together: cfm oil tank, wheel extender kit, new spring and revalve on rear shock, muffin tunnel support, and new W arm. The arm and rails have already been welded up once.
What do people think about the rail saver kit? Worth doing while I'm replacing everything else or overkill?

What is the milage on that 06 Attak? that would make a difference on what you need as well.

7000 miles. Newer battery, DuPont slides, oilite bushings, new bars, WRP seat, marginal wheels, exhaust donuts done at 5k. It's clean and was owned by someone that took good care of it and stayed on top of maintenance/repairs.

Do you have a rear cooler? I would get ice scratchers if you don't have them. Straightline Performance has them. Attaks eat hyfax. And it will eat Duponts as well in time. Also with the wheel extender kit it will help but won't eliminate hyfax issues. Ice scratchers will guaranty cooling and minimize hyfax wear. Use them on days it's frozen hard just groomed and ice conditions. I used them this past week in warm temps with a slush snow that has the skid always bare.
Yamaheater for the grips are almost a necessity. Are Attaks have very cold OEM grips. Or at the least a pair of gauntlets. I put on a Med height windshield as well. 06 and 07 had low windshields. The Med height in their accessories book shoot's the wind over you helmet instead of against your chest. The Med height became OEM in later years on the LTX's.
