New to the site but riding for years, I got a 2011 se later last yr. but did put on 900 miles. Wanted to put studs on ,call my dealer and he said YAmaha sends letters once a week telling them donot studs the sleds. I got stuck on black top when getting gas, also gone arcross lake with bare spots, thats a hand full. i do go a little faster then I should . I love the sled I have read a lot on this site about the do and donots haw to reforce the tubes and so on. all good imfor. thank all for there help. Bring on the heavy side not sure what to do. has any heaver rides studded with out hitting?

Have an xtx. I stiffenened tunnel protectors and added a strip to the bottom of protectors. No nicks and no problems.
Using 1.325 woodys.

- Don't forget to add your location bud.

- As for the studs...do a search.
- There is TONS of info on studding the 2011's.

- Welcome to the site!

- It's huge wealth of information, and very knowledgable people on here.

I recently saw an article where Yamaha is actually offering the prestudded tracks through their dealers, with a Yamaha part number. This is one option although I'm guessing they don't have the best price.

I had my dealer install a prestudded track on my SE before delivery. Its not a big help but it does fix the major issues that you mention with pavement and ice. They claim performance approx equal to 96 regular studs. And the possible damage issues pretty much go away. My dealer showed me a Yamaha letter on studs which does give recommendations as to what protection needs to be added if you are to stud, against their recommendations. The letter has been posted on the site somewhere. One issue with replacing the track is there is very little market for the 128 take off, just not that many out there.

thanks all for the help. not saying anything bad, but after paying this type of mony for sled I really donot want to buy another track. I own a welding and fab shop so putting the fix on the tunnel should be easy. I wish I could find this letter that yamaha has on stud fix. If any has that could you share it with me, Thanks steve
