The first rubber layer of the inner side of my track had begin to separate between the inner traction lugs. I had first think it was just few but further inspection show that about 1/3 of my inner lugs are in this condition (i join some pics). This track have 2 season, 10 000 miles(16 000kms). I wonder if i need to replace it now or i can wait in the middle of the season... will it create too much vibration (the drive and wheels ride on this) that can lead to other component failure ??

I had begin to check to replacement possibility and the choice is pretty limited in the 144"... i don't want to go higher than 1.25" and want to try something else than this noisy ripsaw that not seems as reliable as what my old Polaris oem gave me. Is somebody try something else on thier RsVenture or do you have any sugestion ???

Thanks in advance...

I would contact Camoplast..I know that you have a lot of miles on the track but if the track has not been abused they might help you out with a new track...I know a guy that had a simular problem, the track was 4 years old but because the rest of the track was in such good shape they took off a good chunk of money for a replacement ...I would change the track right away you don't want to blow it off while on a ride...

Whowww....
THat looks real bad. Did a close inspection last night on mine and did not noticed such blistering just yet. i got only 10100 km.

All the one that uses oversized idler wheels, please inspect & report.
I am affraid only this Ripsaw is available in the 144".

towing,

I have the Kimpex/Polaris oversized wheels.

I just looked at my track with 12,000 miles on it, and it looks good. No problems.

Concur with other comments, I would call Camoplast and / or your dealer to see what kind of deal they could work out with you.

You probably have read on other threads the 07 RS Venture has all the windows open on the 144" track, but every third window is clipped.

This may be a compromise between Yamaha and Camoplast to help address the track howl issue.

You will probably be able to get the newer open windowed track, but I would also have every window clipped.

Just some thoughts.

Hope this helps! ;)!

thanks for your replies guys

As for the wheels, i still have my four originals hard plastic wheels on the front and the other set i add that ride between the rails at back was yamaha rubber wheels on Polaris block (mounted 1/16"lower than normal yamaha wheel)

It will be very hard to get something from Camoplast because of the high milage, they don't sell me directely this track and i "modified" it in opening all windows and fully clipped since the beginning. Yes, there is some little damage on the top of the coggs that are due to a suspention kit test (i've been a beta tester) i made at the end of the season. This is at the installation of the kit i first see the defect between the coggs so the problem was already there...

i will keep you informed of the developments..

Bye

Towing, I also have a 2005 RS Venture and had the same problem as you with blistering between the cogs. Yamaha said it was a manufacturing defect and replaced my track under full warranty after the first season. I decided though to go to a fully clipped ripsaw instead of the closed every 3rd window to help with slidder wear and track howl. It did not help either one. Yamaha would not allow me to exchange to the fully clipped version so I paid for it myself. ($700 + tax). So I spent the money for no benefit. I now have a brand new clipped every 3rd window track that I would like to sell. Do you need a track? PM me if you are interested.

After 10k km's I can't believe you would even dare to complain.

Polaris had a 144" length 1.25 track on their Switchbacks from 2004 onwards and many buyers switched them out for deeper lug tracks right on the showroom floor. If you look on SnoWest there are tons of them there... don't think those are RipSaws.

At least i am not alone with this issue... the fact that i ride 99.9% with a passenger have to do with this problem... or not..

I am in searching a left over Predator track in 1,25" because it is not available this year in 144" (was last year) and the ripsaw is the only choice in the 1,25" and i really want to try something else

Maybe i ask too much to expect more than 10k but i know it is possible... I think that the track life depend of many factors and the way you ride is for sure a big factor. The thing i know is that my last three Polaris give me respectively 12 000kms, 22 500kms and 24 500kms with the original oem track... (before i trade the sleds) and i ride this venture the same way i rode before, maybe i was just lucky before but i don't think so...

The Swithback track is a Predator track made for polaris. It is very expensive new from Polaris but i will take a look on Snowest... thanks for the hint

Bye
