on my 06 apex/alpine gt28rs turbo with 08 header down pipe and fuel box. when i am out riding the engine looses rpm and runs terrible at wide open throttle. it will run good up until about 3/4 throttle. running 12 lbs boost. if i let it sit for about 5 min and start it up it runs awsome for one run at a hill, then runs bad again. i've checked fuel pressure 43 lbs. and goes up to about 55lbs on boost. changed fuel pump just in case, swaped injectors, changed spark plugs, checked to make sure throttle bodies are all on tight. i've run out of idea's. i have checked the turbo and the intake side is not touching the housing, but i noticed a tiny bit of end play, not up and down, is this normal? and could the turbo be failing slowly and progressively getting worse? does anyone have any other ideas to check?

thanks darren

if there isn,t any side to side movement and it spins free with out any noise the turbo should be ok. are you losing boost, have you checked the TOR,s maybe bypass it just to eliminate that,

I don't know how the apex's have the sparkplug caps mounted, but on my rx1 I was getting water down past the seal and it would run like crap the last half of the day. I put di ox grease on the plug to cap connection and silicone on the cap to valve cover seal. Seems to have fixed it so far. Don't know if this helps, but I know it frustrating to have these prob's.

Another thing to check is if your blowoff valve is leaking I had to tighten mine up a little after a few rides. Only way to tell that is to build a cap for your intake with an air chuck on it and run about 10lbs pressure then listen for leaks and use soapy water to find them.

problem cured!
either the spark was getting snuffed out by the boost or i had bad coils. i narrowed the gap and changed coils at the same time. runs like a top again.
Thanks for the input.
Darren
