I hope this push button reverse system works. I'm not a mechanic but this sounds like it could have problems. I guess I'm just worried when I hear stories from the Polaris camp that a guy had to drive all the way home in backwards with his push button reverse. But then again, this is Yamaha so it should be fine. Is anybody else worried about this system??

I thought about the same thing. Just need to have some faith in Yamaha's engineering I guess. I ordered one any way. 3 year warranty should cover any issues...
REVERSE
JUST A NOTE, THE REVERSE BETWEEN A POLARIS AND A 4 STROKE YAMAHA ARE COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. THE POLARIS IS ELECTRONIC REVERSE IN WHICH THE ENGINE ACTUALLY IS TURNING IN REVERSE WHEN IN A FOUR STROKE IT IS NOT POSSIBLE FOR THE ENGINE TO FLIP AND RUN IN REVERSE. THE REVERSE IN THE PHAZER MAY BE PUSH BUTTON BUT IT IS STILL A MECHANICAL MECHANISM. I DON'T THINK WE WILL HAVE ANY PROBLEMS AND LIKE STATED OUR 3 YEAR WARRANTY WILL OR HOPEFULLY SHOULD COVER MOST OF OUR WORRIES. MY TWO CENTS??

Re: REVERSE
I HAVE DONE SOME RESEARCH AND MY ANSWER WAS INCORRECT BECAUSE THE PROBLEMS POLARIS HAS BEEN HAVING IS WITH THE PERC 4 WHICH IS SELONOID DRIVEN LIKE THE PHAZER, I HOPE WE DO NOT HAVE THE SAME PROBLEMS.

The phazer have a reverse from the four wheel motorcycle family where it has been running for many years, i sure that it will work ok! and its a servo engine that pull in the reverse everything else is mechanical and very similar to old style...

Worst case scenario the servo craps out, you could still manually engage the linkage. No biggy.
I wouldn't worry about that at all. They have plenty of testing under belts in the form of their ATV's. When you hit 2 to 4 wheel it is electrical so I would guess they use the same parts . The also have other electric assisted shifts to lock the differential, etc.
I would guess it isn't a problem at all. My guess is that it is an electrically activated plunger which pushes or pulls the machine into or out reverse and forward.

I seem to worry about the servo motor but I forget that that's what is in the Viper to adjust the power valves as well as many other products as far back as my old '84 RZ 350.I guess I'm worring for nothing.

The Phazer FX comes standard with push button reverse. Only the base model comes without reverse.
