I just picked up an '04 rx1 and this is not only my first yamaha sled but my first 4-stroke sled. Ive always been impressed by these machines and now I own one. I was just wondering what everone suggests I do for the first upgrades? Ya know, the essential ones that make the sled that much better. Ive heard some things about sway bars. Let me know, thanks. Also if anyone has any info on exhaust upgrades that would be appreciated.

the 12mm swaybar is a good upgrade from what i hear. got mine from fellow ty'er but have not installed yet.
another good upgrade if the stock pro-action skid is still in there is either olins or a custom shock rebuild. i went the olins way..
exh, do a search. there are multiple types and you have to pick the one you like. most of them have sound clips on youtube.
some guys do not like the stock skis and switch them out to c+a etc. i have no problem with the stockers myself but since mine are worn badly i am putting curve skis on this year as our guiness recordholder member hondo swears by them.
the last upgrade i would suggest is a clutch kit from ulmer racing (site sponsor). i love mine and it really woke up the sled. i went with the complete set-up kit (stage2 i think) and allen sends it set-up for your weight/riding style. mine was bang on out of the box.

these are some of the basics that i can think of. there are others that will reccomend seat upgrades and risers, different tracks and suspensions. you have to pick what you want the sled to do and modify it accordingly.

Thanks. Ill check out those clutch kits. The sled already has risers on it and a ripsaw. I guess maybe skis and some ohlins might be after the clutch kit. Where is a good place to pick up a swaybar? I found one site that only had a 13mm but thats all I could find.

go with the 13mm, call rich motorsports... he can get them for you! he also has great prices on ski's! actually , he can probably help with all your mods!
don't forget the air intake upgrade!

Leave it stock and put your money in gas. An '04 is a good sled right out of the box.

Maybe an Ice Tech track, if you are going to pushing it hard and it needs a new track. Doolies preclude darting, if you are faint of heart. But if it is your first 4-stroke cruiser, I suggest that you leave 'er stock for a while.
