Just picked a new 05 Warrior & need advice. Went back 6 pages in this forum & just have no time to look at all the posts. This is my first NEW sled & will keep it around till it's unfixable...or i'm unfixable...whichever comes first.

I really need to know of DURABILTY upgrades. The custom goodies will come later. I'm a mechanic by trade so i can do everything myself. I've seen some guys with suspension failure.....can this be avoided ?

ALL info & links would be appreciated.

In my opinion there are no real durability issues. About the only "mechanical" upgrade I would suggest is the rear heat exchanger, unless you typically have powder or deep snow conditions.

If you got extra money you can do things like new skis, better shocks. Other than that you have all extra cosmetic goodies to customize the look.

I have 2 - 05 Warriors. One has 1500 miles and the other 700 and no durability issues. I have not even heard of any. Only problem I had the antifreeze was 100% from the dealer. First ride I did have some overheating. Was marginal conditions also. After I cut the coolant to 60/40 no more problems. I also noticed the engines ran a little warmer till they got a few hundred miles on them. I also did some suspension tuning, and it did improve the handling. Took in the straps abt 1/2" and set FRA to max, and set the center shock spring a notch or 2 higher. Backed off on the ski springs. You can do a search for warrior and suspension, or go to the suspension section of the board.
Good luck with the new sled, I love mine. I did put 108 studs down the middle. I ordered Slydog skis...will let you know if they improve the handling, when I get to ride.

Thanks . Running the stock carbides yet ? Stock 4" doesn't seem like much. Really tempted to run around in the grass......frosty in mourning. Not a ideal break-in method though.

hey bonzi88,
i agree with NY Warrior, rear heatexchanger is a must and i put on woody's doolies to control darting.
you to will now be riding "the most superior snowmobile platform" and love every mile.

Assuming it doesn't have studs, I would put 6" carbides on it. I prefer the Bergstrom Triple Point carbides, but there are less expensive ones available. Check out the video from CB Performance (site supporter) on their carbides at the link below.

Some guys ran 8" carbides on their Warriors but they also had studs. Probably the most added option to the Warrior is a set of aftermarket skis like Simmons Flexi Ski or C&A Pros.

Get rid of the stock carbides and change the oil and filter at 500 miles, gas it up and go. I recommend synthetic oil too ;)!

Where can u find that rear heat exchanger ? Found one on Ebay for $150.00 .

I got mine from the dealer for around $80. It came with all necessary hardware and instructions. Just tell them you want the optional RX-1 mountain rear heat exchanger.

The one on ebay is for the RX-1 standard (short) track. It will fit but it is in the same location as the current crossover tube and that location doesn't get much snow thrown up on it. So while it may help some it won't help as much as the mountain one.

Another benefit of the heat exchanger is that it melts the snow & ice that tends to build up on the tunnel extension and makes the tunnel extension a nice warm shelf to warm your hands, gloves or helmet when you take a break.

1200 km on my o4 warrior.had to install plastic sleave over coolant hose on the delta box frame, also install rubber trim on hood screens to prevent air box from being rubbed.Brutally fast ,very good cornering sled.Rear clicker shock is six clicks from soft.Great deep snow performance.Black hood with yellow accents is stunning to look at,but the nytro i saw today at the dealer was pure evil with that flame job, take that honey bee ski- doo ,tony stewart cat,and checker flagged polarises.

Any good tricks on getting the heat exchange in? Like where we have to cut? I could not even get the old tube out.

Just cut the opening up enough to wiggle the pipe out. Don't worry, the plastic cover hides the bigger hole.
I second the idea of getting the mountain cooler from your dealer. It's about $80.00 and is much larger than the RX-1 exchanger to boot ;)!
