Yamaha reps had pics of there new 06 sleds on digital scales and stated that snow tech and or supertrax had them posted the same on there scales, now the apex er with one gal.of fuel and fully running fluids weighed in at 558 add 9 more gal. at roughly 6 lbs and you are right at there mark of loaded fully fueled 618lbs vrs 624lbs for the fusion, and the fusion does not have electric start, wow and after picking up both front end and rear i would say they are close, now i owne a fusion and i have lifted it both front and back, and this apex is as light or lighter by the seat of pants feel.. :ORC

They told us that with full tanks the Apex weighs 10 lbs less than a Fusion and 20 lbs less than a mach z. Not that I doubted Greg from Yamaha, but digital pics on scales and the Mags backing it up.
Finally, an end to all the 1 Ton bullcrap

Yammy says it weighs 551 dry, so all fluids and one gallon of gas only add 7lbs? That's less than the weight of one gallon of gas. Do the new sleds actually weigh less than there specking?

Snowbeast, after riding the sleds, what did you think? I was impressed. Totally different sled than the 05 RX1. The motor is sweet. Ride position was comfortable.. felt just right. I was in the line up after you.I tride the REV600 HO and cant get comfortable on the REV. Not for me
Did you do the survey and get the 2006 test pilot hat? Will talk to you at work.

Keep in mind that these are pre production prototypes, and there could a couple of batches comming through. Plus they could be bolting on different parts during the down time. The brochure weights for all we know could have been based on engineering equations.
We look at this time period as Yamaha showing and letting dealers and selected other people ride them.
But also what is going on is all last minute development to do the tweaking to get them as polished as they can before they build the production models.
Personally, I'd go more with the weights pictured on the scales and what the mags say because they are the latest weight figures. The production models could even change by a couple of pounds.

Yea..Its me. I was very inmpressed with the sleds. I had a chance to ride both. The Attak and Apex. No one wanted to try the Attak on one of the stops! Lucky guy. I was not thinking of a new sled but after the ride its time to retire the Vector and SXR. These sleds are so sweet. I thought the 05 RX1 was a nice ride but these new sleds are so much better its hard to describe. Its hard to believe one year newer can make so much difference. These are the sleds to have!

Turkey! Yea I guess I'm a turkey. They had 2 Apex's, 1 Attak and a 06 Vector. No only one loop but 3 stops. I jumped on the Attak first and my son got on the Apex. Went out to Big Diamond changed sleds. Got on a Warriror. Went accross Big Diamond and out into the woods on that rough trail. Stopped again to switch. No one wanted to try the Apex so I got on.
You are right. WOW!
Felt so stable on the Attak going accross Big Diamond going over +1' [?] drifts.

NH, you rode both a Warrior and Attak? Compare the two if you would. I'm leaning more and more to an Attak.

150, This is just my opinion. We rode the sleds for around 10 min. each over 1' +/- bumps, lake [pond], twisty narrow trail with loose snow and icy conditions. These sleds were pre-production and not at the final spec's. The Warrior is a fine machine. You can feel the suspension working...its smooth but not real smooth. The engine and clutching is what I am used to with the RX1 that I have.
The Attak's seating position feels more comfortable than the 05 sleds. Legs are in a more neutral position and your arms are in a better position. Started the Attak, it was in the line up. Oh by the way, the keys are new. They fold up into a case. The 06 has a different sound. I liked it. The first thing I noticed was how smooth the clutch engaged. Much smoother than the 05 RX1. This new motor is SWEET. I moved out of the line up and out made the first turn out and along the pond. The sled just turned..no sliding like the Worrior. Hitting the bumps on the pond's, going through twisty trails you feel so confident on what this sled will do. The sled is soooo stable on the bumps. Front suspension and rear suspension work together to make this sled one GREAT package. The sled turns like its on rails.
Bottom line.. I cant really compare the 2 sleds. The Attak and Appex are that much better. The only thing that I have a concern with is the windshield. Some like the low look with no protection but when its COLD I want protection. I'm not sure it the standard shield will be enough to protect on those cold days. If you were thinking of purchacing a new Appex or Attak, I would stop thinking, go get the best deal. When the snow comes next year, you wont be dissatisfied. You will be on the best sleds produced in 06.
