Any of you guys thinking what I'm thinking, I remember reading in a magazine on rear flaps guys cutting them or simply removing them wich would cause overheating of the engine and slides due to the lack of snow to recirculate in tunnel...do you see what I'm trying to spell out.
Have they redesigned it to try to cool slides and engine, has anabody herd rumors on why the switch, I'm sure that their has to be a explanation?

- Which one? I have 6
I think too many people were running them over in reverse. I know on mine it got caught quite a few times till I ended up installing two straps to hold the flap up. I think the new flaps are a great idea, cause if you back up into the flap folds part way from the top and does not catch your track and studs.
I liked them so much I bought one this year for my Warrior.

They also look WAY better

I already have them on my Warrior, Vector, SRX, and SXR. Nice improvement.

I am waiting for mine... the new flap has three advantages:
(1) It will not go to sh!t when/if you back over it
(2) Due to its rigidity and angle away from the track, it will be much more difficult to back over
(3) Its stiffness and "cupping" effect will catch more snow in the tunnel and help sleds to keep cool.
*(4) It looks cool.

I'll keep my old style shorty flap. I think the 07's are ugly. JMO.

New Flaps
Your not going to be ripping accross any lake for too long with a flap like whats on the 07's LOL! They look cool but are far from that!
Get yourself a nice long Ski-doo style flap - to keep the snow in!
Put a bolt through the center - then tie a strap from the rear bumper to the bolt. It's looks a bit goddy but if Yamaha won't do their job then someone has to! Yamaha has what has to be the hottest running suspension out there.
The snow melts of mine and you'll burn your fingers if you touch the track clips after a long lake run on ice!(or minimal snow!). My buddies cats etc. where all cold! One guy had the long flap - and guess what his was cold also!
It's up to you - but I've had it with these cute sissy non functional F16 wing flaps! My 05 wheel's rubber desintegrates in less than 50km's! We've run Yamaha's bins dry last year! Once the wheels fall fail, slides fail and on and on it goes! The 05 RX-1 rear suspensions as well as the new Apex(06 & 07) all have this problem! Then the clunking in the bumps, the front arm failures......
The new RTX is a step in the right direction hopefully - but for the rest of us.....we have to take the matter in our own hands - cause Yamaha absolutely fails to admit to serious design flaws here.
On the up side the ride is pretty good when there's lotsa snow!
That's not always the case! I don't ride or live near the Rockies!
Anyway, all to say that the new mudflap is not impressive(JMOO)
