Hey guys, have a stock 2006 Apex Mtn and I just had a Camo Extreme 16 x 162 x 2.5 track put on it with Avid drivers. While they were at it, I had them put on new sliders. When I got it home I put some ice scratchers on before taking it out.

I went out for a ride and put 125 km on. Was riding half groomed trail, the other half I was in no less than 4" of snow.

Got home and notice my sliders were done.

What should I do??

Thanks.

dude thats sucks :die call the shop that installed your track and ask them why this would happen and go from there :o|

They might have melted right off the get go in the first few miles when they were dry, if you didn't get right into some snow. If they're only flattened halfway down in a couple spots, you should still be okay.

Second possibility...track too tight????

Haven't looked to see if I can see rail but I'm sure it's close.

I phoned all the mod shops in Edmonton today for hyperfax. They said they can't even get any right now.

Shop that installed track said they set the track a little tight on purpose as the track tends to stretch after install.

I'll probably have to put on another stock set as I have a trip planned for this weekend and wont be able to get any in time. I will definitely be looking for some hyperfax. Anyone know of a good place to get them??

I took my stock hyfax and put 2 grooves down the entire length with a table saw, 1/3 way across. Seems to be working much better. Last winter I went thru a set in 400 miles.

this might be a dumb question,,but do you have scratchers...i would never ride my sled ( 162 yam ) on anything with out scratchers..unless its powder...and the slides from yammie such :o| ..my first pair went for 150 and they were done..the wifes attack were right through...remember to ride in alot of snow and every 10 ks for the first 50 ks...stop for a sec and let them cool..it like volcanizes them ;)! ..makes them hard...lol...

I dont have the extreme but with the stock mav I have all idlers removed from the skid and have to run the track a little snug due toworm stock drivers. No prblem at all with hyfax wear. If i'm on the trail and there isnt several inches of loose snow I put the scratchers down. Thats a must!!! Eric

I had the same problem even with scratchers, put on a set of hyperfax and 800 miles later they still look new.Well worth the extra money. And i removed all extra bogies.

as of today i have 932 miles on my stock hyphax with scratchers and the still look new, my dad his were toast at 500 mile`s his track wasn`t alligned right from set up at the dealer and we didnt catch it un til it was to late. so make sure your track is properly aligned

Thanks for the input guys...I took it in yesterday and had hyperfax put on(found some at Argyll Motor Sports), they also took off all the outside bogies. They left the ones on the inside of the rails near the front.

I was using my scratchers when this happened but with the location of bogies, I could only put the scratchers half way down the track. Now that they took the front ones off, I will look at moving them closer to the front.

hey i like the idea of the slices down the hyfax. il try that on mine next time. i go through a set every 1000km or so. its stupid. new track this year. i dont think that the tension would do much worse. i ran mine all last year with it tightened up all the way since i was getting everything new, skid, track, rails, drivers etc. they still lasted the same amount of time. but thanx for the idea

I was going through a set of factory hyfax with scratchers every 50 miles with my 2.5" Extreme. Changed to hyperfax and it was better but the big change was going from MPI scratchers to Holz scratchers. Holz scratchers are much more agressive and I'm going on 3 years with the same set of hyperfax.
