Did you send any pics? Did he want the defective one back?

I sent him pictures of the crack and pictures of the numbers on the belt and jacket. He didn’t want the belt back. He told me the numbers indicated hen the belt was made.

Looks like same lot - 30 19. 30th week of 2019. Something went wrong with this lot of belts. KnappAttack had same date code.
Today I checked all 4 I have and they're fine.
Glad you worked it out with Tony. Good guy and Timken wants to stand behind it's product. That's why it's good for anyone with an issue to communicate with them.
Thanks and happy trails to you!

I see 30 9, not 30 19 on that belt?

Can't see in the cog very well, it might be 30-9 too but I bet it's 30-19.

I zoomed in..it says 9. So does that mean the belt was made a decade ago in 2009? The next number is 17...

If there's no "1" in front of the "9" then yes but that's not likely. That would mean the belt was made in 2009 making it way beyond it's guaranteed service date. Timken says any belt made within the last 7 years will perform as 'new' provided it hasn't been stored in direct sunlight.
Refer to pics below. I just took a pic of an XS belt I have. Notice in 1st pic, it looks like 42 8. I tried to take this pic at the same angle as yours. Check out 2nd pic and you can see the little '1' hiding in the cog. So, my belt was made in the 42nd week of 2018 (approx. October of 2018).
Is there any chance there's a little '1' hiding in the cog on your belt? If not, then I would recommend you return it for a new belt that is within date code service life (not less than 7 years old). Timken will stand behind it too. If you point out where you got it (which distributor) they will work with them to update their inventory and get it current. Timken does not want old belts out there.

It would have fit nothing.
My manufactured date code was 3019 as well. The sequential number was 236-245.
T get the belt replaced Tony just needs these numbers, Pics of the damaged belt and a receipt of purchase. He handled this very quickly and had the belt sent out the day he got this info.

You can see the 1 in one of the lines there, it's 30-19 and the same as the two I received from ShadeTree.
I'm still waiting for my replacement belt, but waiting for snow too that does not seem to be coming so we can ride. So both snow and replacement belt are AWAL, more than likely both are caught up in the holiday rush and shipping backlog.

Something went wrong with that batch 30 19. Timken should recall them all.You can see the 1 in one of the lines there, it's 30-19 and the same as the two I received from ShadeTree.

^^^^You're right there, it would help get them off the shelf so all the guys that jump on the XS-825 train won't have to go through the same process of getting the belt replaced.

Looks like the 1 is buried in the cog. Also notice how crooked the belt is cut!
