I JUST ORDERED A NEW ELECTRIC SHIELD FOR MY
CL-MAX HELMET WILL IT PLUG INTO MY 07 ATTAK
DC ACCESSARY PLUG OR DO I HAVE TO BUY THE OTHER
END AND WIRE IT UP.

Yamaha sells an adapter that will plug into the accessory outlet and then the shield plugs directly into that. It is $25 if I remember correctly.

Watch for the adapter backing out of the socket. If it does, you'll loose power before if physically falls out. When it does this, it sucks. It takes a while to drive off the moisture/ice that builds up.

I made a new adapter up for a friend using a Radio Shack RCA female and and male cigarette lighter plug for about $9.00. This one has a indicator light on it.

But, ... I just go direct to the battery with a fuse at the battery. Never had one of these connections fail yet!

Ya me too, have been going direct with no fuse for years. Nice if your stuck or you fog up bad that you can leave your shield plugged in even if the engine is not running. Cig lighter I use for the GPS.

I plugged mine in the accessory outlet for over 400 miles this week with no problems.

Why???? After 3 1/2 days of use, why would it blow now?

bv-2 helmet

I bought a new BV-2 ski-doo helmet last year. Would not own anything else. No wind or turbulance inside helmet. No need for an electric shield. This helmet does not steam up at all. 20 below zero and my face stays toasty warm. Try one and you will not own any thing else.

My little bro used the accesorie plug and it worked fine the first time. Now he carries a box of spare fuses and replaces one or two per trip. I thought it was an isolated incident, but others on this site have had the same problem. I don't know why. I just know that mine wired directly to the battery has never let me down.

I rode with 2 guys this year who had the doo helmets. One said it was perfect. The other got frost bite on his cheeks. He had to lift the shield because it was completely fogged. :dunno: He was just going to give me the helmet.
