I have been checking the 2010 apex parts catolog and try to find out what Yamaha changed to get more heat out the bars I can not find it all the eletric parts are the same ECU is the same the only different i found was the grip warmer itself is a different part # on the 2010 the warmer #is 8FR-2626A-10-00 and 2009 is 8GL-2626A-10-00 2008 8GF-2626A-10-00
so you guys say that the ECU is different but the part# is the same so whats up with these things

I believe Yamaha only changed the hand warmers' design so that it's more concentrated inwards (away from the hooks), and I think a cork insulator between the warmers and bars.

Perhaps Yamaha changed the programming in the ECU to provide more constant voltage to the grips as well? I don't know, we'll see the reports from the 2010 owners when the season starts I'm sure.

On the Apex, Nytro, and Phazer models with the curved bars Yamaha added an insulator material between the handlebar heater and the handlebar and also redesigned the heater to have a more concentrated heating area like Grimm posted. There are no other changes to those sleds. The new 2010 Vector GT and Vector GT LTX models get the same new grip assy but also benefit from having a larger stator that has more output which is allowing Yamaha to put more/full voltage to the grips at lower rpms (thus creating more heat) which is really the root cause of the poor performing heaters on the previous model years.
