I'm not to familiar with ulmers kit, I usually run drag n flys which are more for racing but im sure ulmers will increase engagement and more grunt on the bottom and mid range. Get your suspension set up right, I think most guys say to run the front a arms as close to or just above level for best handling, then you will need to set your transfer rod. I have mine almost all the way out which will take weight off the skis and I rip through the corners without much tipping and minimal darting on the straights. Lots of complaints with stock skis and darting. You have a short track so your gearing will be 24/38 you could drop a top tooth but I know some guys will say your just going to shoot a roost to the moon. I run 21/38 with 108 studs and it pulls like a bat outta hell and still can pull 116mph on GPS. There are other cheaper mods compared to a turbo like air box mod, power commander, headers and exhaust but its not necessary. Probably look $1200 US for all that stuff. Ride the sled and set it up first then decide if your going to spend a bunch of money on it.

Goodster - Good to see you on here bud. Spend some time searching - lots of good reads on things to upgrade and maintain. I am always just a phone call away too - I am certainly no expert but have been through most things on these sleds, so I should be able to help or point you in the right direction. I also have some parts laying around too - I know I have gears if you decide to go down a tooth.

If it helps your comfort level. I just sold my 2005 RX 1 with 18,000 miles on it...looks and runs great. My 2011 Apex with approx. 5,000 miles looks like it just came out of show your. Other than maintenance mentioned above, no issues. You are going to love that sled with the clutch kit. Maybe revavle shocks tp your weight and riding style...makes a huge difference in how they handle.

Thanks Ranger, I really can't wait to try this sled out, never rode an Apex before, but I'm sure I'll love it!

welcome to the 4-stroke side. i also came from an SRX back in 2012. the biggest thing to get use to with these is you can't let off the throttle all the way going into corners or coming to a stop like the 2strokes. The engine breaking does take a bit of getting use to but once you figure it out you will hardly ever use the brake in the corners. I've got the 2011 so it has less engine braking then the older Apex's that is one of the reason why i bought it, EPS the other. Friend of mine had a '08 and i couldn't stand the nose diving but i didn't ride it enough to catch on, i almost went over the handlebars when i was standing up. You'll love the Apex motor and the sitting position. i've got trouble riding the SRX now, sitting too low for me and now that i'm older my back can't take it for very long.
Looks like you got a great deal on a clean apex, sled looks good.
good luck

It took me about 3 rides until I really starting liking mine a lot. X2 on getting use to the engine braking. Now I wouldn't want to have a sled without engine braking. Like he said....I barely even need the brakes. Once you learn the sled you will really start liking it. I thought I would keep my SRX as a backup forever.....I sold it last winter. Ha. No need for it anymore.

Make sure the exhaust donuts are not worn...very important... put your gloved hands over both tailpipes. If it stalls they're good. If it doesn't they're bad. When they go bad and are not changed they will ruin your headers. Turns a $50 job into a $400 job. One of the most important things to keep an eye on IMO. Here's my 06 with 10775mi. I've had her for 9 yrs. I'm still in love

How do you like those Skidoo skis?

I like them a lot. Very light and inexpensive to replace. One drawback though, soft plastic. Don't let the carbides wear too low. I'm on my second set in 9yrs.How do you like those Skidoo skis?
