Hello TY4 Stroke
Last week I purchased a 2017 sidewinder with 7000 miles that is stock according to previous owner. This snowmobile had been sitting for 3 years on a battery tender it started pretty easy and I was able to drive it up on to trailer. When I got home the old gas was pumped out and filled with fresh. Started the engine and ran it up to temp running better with fresh gas. I next inspected primary clutch which was noisy while doing this I rotated the engine backwards maybe 1/2 turn, didn't know this could be a problem. I pulled off the primary clutch and started engine everything seemed ok. Next morning engine started easy seemed ok. I next unplugged the dash and removed the hood for a visual inspection everything looked clean and unmolested. I installed a new battery, plugged in dash and reinstalled primary clutch that was freshened up. Now the engine won't start unless I crack the throttle and it dies when throttle is released, the engine will rev up but is kind of lazy like the ignition timing is too low or cam timing is retarded. There are no codes on the dash, I'm waiting on scanner. I removed hood again looking for loose connections, also reinstalled old battery and pulled off clutch still won't run without cracking throttle.
Tomorrow I'm going to do a cranking compression test if its low on all cylinders I will pull off what I need to check the timing of cams.
Has anyone ever seen an ECM or TPS go bad by changing a battery?
Sorry for the long first post, any ideas or suggestions what might be going on with this would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You
