Dealer finally got me my shock (the stocker was damn near wore thru by the stock spring) after a 6 week wait for the parts. I can not tell ya what changed, but a couple of things are different. Their is a different design snubber, it is a different color (different material?), and the end that the RA cable goes into is a different casting, with a different adjuster etc.. (although the cable fits fine.
I have yet to ride the sled in the trails, but the shock is at least 50% stiffer on dampening. At full hard, I can flop on the sleat like a tuna (I weigh 270lbs) and it only squats about 2", while using the heavy spring on setting 5

Did Yamaha replace that for you, or did you pay for it?

yamaha did it under warranty. The stock shock had been rubbed thru almost 1/8"

Mine seat seems to "sag" 3-4 inches now unloaded, didn't do that when new, so I was wondering if the stock shock was a bit light. I'm probably 230 with gear, but there have been some (approx. 150 miles) rides with a 280ish load.

Tom, (Mr. Sled) has the upgraded rear spring.

Well, I can tell everyone right now, the updated shock is 100% better than before. THe shock is much stiffer in valving. I am assuming some sort of updated 06 valving. I have gone from setting number 3 on the second c clip groove on the stock spring, to setting #2 on the standard c clip position.
Rode it HARD this weekend, ditchbanging and such and the sled is so awesome now!

That's good to hear. Sounds like Yamaha continually tries to improve the quality of their product.

my dealer just adjust the spring, he change the circlip around the adjuster, it's the first time i was inform this monoshock have 21 adjustment on the spring not 7, you have to compress the spring and remove the circlip under the adjuster you have 3 place to calibrate the spring, what a difference now...... i'm not talking damping adjustment on the side, it's the spring adjustment, thebest.

I too adjusted my spring the same way on the origonall shock. The added tension made the spring deflect in the middle, and rub thru the shock body. If you think you need to move to the middle groove, I would suggest the heavier spring instead. Unfortunatly the spring is $200 US
