2007 Yamaha Attak
I was wondering if anyone has put in an aftermarket shock on a 2007 Yamaha Attak. I am looking for something to absorb the bumps better than the stock shock does. Also there is a smaller shock on these machine, when I take it off there is no compression to it at all. Is this normal, do they make a better shock for that? Thanks for any advice.

That smaller so called shock is a transfer rod... have the big shock revalved.

Also why did you post some bogus Arctic Cat poll?

X2, I also put a Fox Mega Float under my 2006 Attak. No more bottoming. No more slowing down going over the nasty ruts.

To each his own. I hated the float... when I would finally get the thing to ride good it would bottom. If you like it firm and not have a plush ride in the stutters, go for it.

Without getting too personal here... Just out of curiosity, what were you running for pressure and riding weight? At 170 lbs I set the shock to 145 PSI and found it to be a similar feel to the coil over yet it would bottom on the whoops if i wasn't careful on the coil over.

I'm 6 foot 2, 250 pounds fully geared. I have tried pressures from 165 all the way up to 210 I never could find the sweet spot. I worked on this shock for an entire season and was tired of it by the end of the season. But maybe for a smaller person and it works but for me never again will I use it.

Another problem I have with it is the volume that the pump is able to put into the shock was so small you had to have arms like popeye to get the thing set right.

I remove the shock went to a heavier spring and had the shock revalved and it is a Cadillac. if you ever see me on a ride I will gladly let you ride anyone of my four snowmobiles that I bring along.

I agree, i think the Mega Float has it's limitations being a "infinitely adjustable" shock, but the bottom line is it's not one size fits all. Let's hope the newer dual chamber Float XV on the new 146" singleshot works better with its ability to adjust for rider weight and bottom out.

As mentioned above. Floats are good for slow cruising groomed trails. They work well in little bumps but will not handle the large bumps without bottoming out.
A revalve and a larger spring works awesome.

Too bad the Hygear Dual Pressure cans woudnlt work on the Mega... then you may have something...

I've owned 2 2007 Attaks. One a GT and the other a non-GT. On the non I had Pioneer revalve and big boy spring. This worked good or better for sure. Well worth it. On my GT all I did was put a big boy spring on it. It rides so much better then the non GT. I don't know much about shocks but even with out the big boy on the GT it rode better then the other with a revalve/bigboy it seems.

Thank you all for the comments, I am sorry I put this in the wrong posting area, thank you for moving it to whoever moved it. The poll was listed online, I do not know it to be true, I own a Yamaha not an Articat, so no special reason I chose that one. I looked at the fox floats and only have one question, how would you be able to adjust the air in it, when you our riding, it get all covered in ice, slush, etc... Thanks for all the advice.

My ride buddy with the custom blue/white 2006 standard Attak with the MPI that comes up on the TY photo gallery.......his has the standard shocks that it came with and a Big Boy Spring on the Mono skid that was re-valved by Jeff Fischer @ Motorsports Plus in St. Paul. He had all the shocks done by him recently. I thought his machine rode extremely well in Michigan last month. Obviously with a supercharger the thing rips pretty good and I could hammer it through almost anything the trail could dish out. I think he weighs about 240 fully geared up. I am closer to 220-225 geared up. So point being I think you can get the stock stuff to work pretty good with the correct valving and springs.
