Just picked up my first snowmobile, 04 yamaha rx1 for 3 thousand.Bone stock red and 7000 miles. And guess what i found a crack in the w-arm yay
I pulled the skid last night after practice and took off the arm and yep it was @#$!ed up.
Having it welded and gusseted.
Was it a good idea or should i have tried to find a new or used one?

Good idea. It will be fine. While it's out, there's a bunch of plastic bushings in the skid that I would look at.
Yea I found a couple that need to go and get replaced, but the hard part will be getting the skid back inblkhwkbob said:Good idea. It will be fine. While it's out, there's a bunch of plastic bushings in the skid that I would look at.

Welcome to the site and yes it was a good idea to fix them up. You should check and repack your speedo and secondary bearings. Its very easy to do and will save you grief on the trail.
