Heard a rumor that the latest edition of SnowTech has an article about a 20,000+ mile Yamaha Vector or Venture in it. I haven't received mine yet, but am wondering if this is your sled!

Yes, there is an article about Hondo's Venture!

He's famous now!!! :-o ;)!

It's a whole lot of Yammie-stuff in the Oct/Nov edition! ;)!

50,000 miles...that would be 10 rebuilds and 10 new sets of cylinders on my old 1998 ZR600, and probably at least 3 complete bottom end rebuilds. That old Cat 600 twin of mine would wear out the nicasil lining on the exhaust side every 5k miles.

You still gunning for 50,000 miles?

Might as well give it a shot! ;)!

I think the 4 stroke evolution is pretty exciting, and very interesting.

I am 100% sold on Yamaha's engine development program.

The 3 cylinder motor in a touring chasis should do it with relative ease.

Preventative maintenance is the key.

This project personnally gives me something fun to do throughout the winter months!

By accurately documenting information obtained through my maintenance experience with the sled should be a "win-win" situation for Yamaha Motor Corp, interested Yamaha snowmobile owners, and TY readers.

Next milestone: Sharing my 25,000 valve check findings, with photo's.

Concur, any other 2 stroke sled motor going this distance, would require numerous rebuilds.

In addition, If "Highmiler" with an 03 RX-1 long track with around 30,000 miles keeps his sled going, he could be the first to reach 50,000 miles.

How cool would that be? ;)!

Nice Job Hondo.... I was hoping to see the mention of us at Totallyamaha... I am sure that how they found you.

Thanks Mr Sled,

Concur.

The original story line did mention that I was a TY member, and a frequent contributor however, somewhere along the edtitorial "chop-chain", it was cut from the story.

One can only guess why?

Never-the-less, the decision made to "trim" the story was beyond any ones control.

Optimistically speaking, It's a pretty good start for better things to come! ;)!

Snowtech article

Nice job on the article Hondo. I was surprised that the article was so short knowing you gathered extensive, useful info. I'd like to read the unedited version. How about posting it?

Thanks for the acknowledgement nyattak,

The article is the property of someone else, and is not appropriate "www" dissemination.

You can take a look at it when you come up.

The original draft was well written though. ;)!
