I am new to this forum, hello. ;)!

A few Yamaha questions:

We are considering replacing the MRS. ski doo and are looking at Yamaha.

How is the throttle pull on the fuel injected models compared to a carbureted sled, is it any easier, as she has had complaints with hers being a bit tiring after an all day ride?

Is the steering heavy at low trail speeds, and can the Apex ER be driven at slow trail speeds with out over heating issues?

Thanks!

The throttle pull is very easy. In fact, I didn't even think about it until your question. It seems very easy to me. I believe the steering is a bit heavy at low trail speeds in he corners but the rear skid is as smooth as can be when set up for the correct rider weight. It can be driven at low speeds without over heating issues.

I was in Maine about 2 weeks ago and saw a couple who appeared to be in their late 50's and his wife was riding a new Apex ER in red and he was driving an RX-1. She didn't seem to be having any issues at all.

So far this year I've ridden about a dozen of my friends sleds. My Apex has the lightest throttle action of them all. Not bad for a 4-cylinder 1000cc machine.

There area no cables theres a sensor to sense the throttle position

but i noticed it has about the same tension as a cabled throttle.
also.... if you keep the stock carbides the steering is pretty light ,go to 7 inch carbides and its pretty hard to turn... i put usi skis on with 7 inch and took them off went back to the yammy skis... you need to stud before putting on bigger carbides ;)!

I rode a APEXrtx last year, alot lighter than my warrior(motor scared the s**t out of me,PURE EVIL)but at the expense of alot more steering effort.

bigbigrichie, There are no cables? They are all cable operated. The Vector and the Apex have just a slight bit more pull than a twin two stroke EFI. Even though the Vector is carbed the cable is only pulling open the butterfly's just like with inlection, The slide valves are opened by vacume. snowdrifter, If your wife does not care about being the fastest i would suggest the 08 Vector (now in the Apex chasis) with a pair of duece bar's to stop the darting. The Vector is night and day smoother and much better milage. Hope this help's. kviper

What Doo is she on?

Throttle pull is light. Throttle response is scary fast and aggressive. I think it is too much for my wife. I just bot her a new 07 Vector GT and am taking her off the Apex.

I agree with Kviper. I think the Vector is a better choice unless she is very aggressive.

Throttle pull is light on Vector as well.
Better mileage.
Way quieter than Apex.
10 lbs or so lighter than Apex.
Unless she is a Rev rider you may want to consider the 07 Vector vs the 08.
Riding position is a little lower on the 07 Vector which means the sled is less tippy if your wife is not in to using a lot of body english in the corners.
Front suspension and rear suspension are the same on 07 and 08 Vectors. Riding position and handlebars are more forward on 08 Vector putting more weight on the Ski's.
Neither the Apex or Vector steer heavy at low speeds with stock carbides but will track there in some conditions.
I suggest a 1/4 " shim under the back of the Ski rubber to cure this and the short carbided Deuce bars or Dooly's for close to perfection for a 6 tenths rider.
One note; Yamaha stock ski's are dangerous on a crust you break through though..

I just asked my wife and she said her Vector GT throttle resistance was not noticable like the SRX was. I would think the new vector in the apex chassis will be wonderful!
