New (to me) Apex

- I'm probably gonna have a ton of questions in the future, but I've got one right away...

- How many studs are everyone running?

- I don't want anything TOO aggressive, but I wanna be able to harness those 150 ponies.

- I do mostly trail riding, but there's lake running in there, and alot of icy, hard pack.

- Will 122 suffice??

Rule of thumb is one pic for every pony. I was running 96 last year and was good in the woods, but did not hook up in the drag races on the lake. This year I ran 144 down the middle and works great! I can still get a little slide in the woods but a great hook up on the lakes.

I have 144 down the middle too, Works great!! Lots of hook up and you can still power slide a little bit in the corners if you need to.. Perfect setup IMO

I don't think you will want to go with much less. Less studs will put more pressure on each individual stud and can increase the chances of one or some ripping out. I found that out the hard way.. Some guys only put 96 in and others put in over 200. I think 144 is a good amount for a stock sled. I put 196 in my turbo rx-1 and that wasn't nearly enough to hook up with that kinda power.. I should have had well over 200 in that sled..

- Ok, here's another weird question...

- BTW, I've only got pics of the sled. I pick it up next week.

- The sled has got Pilot Skis on it, but I can't figure out what the white crap is on 'em?
- I emailed the dealer back, but I left work before he could answer.
- I'm sure he replied, but I won't know until the morning. It's driving me nutz.

- Oh I'll be staying with the Pilot skis, but I'll be flogging these B&W ones and getting some black & red ones.

- Gotta match ya know. :)

- BTW...it's got 196 studs, 4 per row up the middle.
