Hi Everyone,
I'm Yam-Kodiak also yamrx-1 on the rx1 site. I'm going sat 24th to pick up my new kodiak from port Yam. this will be completly new to me. I have so many quistions i will start with just a couple for now. Is green the fastest lol no really as far as gas milage what can i expect? also does the kodiad have a rev lemiter on reverse? :4STroke:
 
Welcome aboard mate. This is a great site even with all the yanks LaLaLa Just given the guys a hard time, but really there is a lot of cool info here and people that are willing to help you as much as they can. :yam:

Did you get a 400 or a 450 Kodiak?

My '03 450 does have the reverse limiter as well as the diff lock limiter. The 400 doesn't have a diff lock but knowing Yamaha I'd say it's a safe bet reverse has a limiter.

It's tough to say regarding mileage as these machines see such varied conditions. Will you be trail riding all day or bogging through the mud? I can say you'll use a heck of a lot less fuel in a day than you'll use on a sled.

I got a 400 Kodiak. I heard 45-50 mph is about top end is this true. Mostly i will be riding trails in mich and wisc. is the reverse limiter is as bad as everyone says it is. Like can't back up over a small rock? can it be bypassed. Do you think this is a good unit for trail running ,exploring and running some of the logging roads give some input on this if you can, My buddy is buying a griz the same day there will i atleast be able to keep him in my sights on the trails ?
 
Hey Randy Congrats on the Kodiak. It should do close to 50 mph whereas a Grizz will do mid 60's. As long as you are not doing alot of wide open stuff you will be able to keep up to the Grizz. The Kodiak's are very nimble and easy to throw around compared to a Grizz. As far as the reverse is concerned I don't think it is to big of a deal. Most people complain when they are stuck in mud and trying to back up with the wheels spinning and then the limiter kicks in. You can bypass it with some of the info that is out there but I don't think its 100% necessary to do that.

I agree with Kevin, the reverse limiter thing has kind of been blown out of proportion. You'll be able to back up over rocks and all sorts of things.

Unless you're riding a lot of RR grades or similar wide open territory you'll be right there with your buddy on his Grizz.

Thanks for the input Kevin, I will see ya on saturday, Cant wait to to see some cool trails and have a good time. some time email me on some areas that you have gone and enjoyed the trail system. like i said this will be new to most of us in the snow group. hope to send somemore customers your way.
