Just picked up an 09 vector and I wanted to check the oil on it. Just wondering if you could help me out with the procedure to do so. Also help with doing an oil change. I never got a manual with the sled. Thanks

To check the oil you should start the sled and let it run for a bit, shut it off and wait 5-10 minutes. Unplug the oil sender connection, unscrew the dipstick and remove it,clean it off and lay it back in the tank, do not screw it in, check level.

To change the oil you will need to remove the access panel in the belly pan and side panel, once the lower panel is removed you will see the oil filter and drain bolt, drain the tank, then the engine and remove the filter. Make sure the o ring comes off with the old filter, put new filter on ( make sure to put some oil on the new oring), put drain plugs back in and refill oil tank. You will get different opinions here, but I just dump 3 litres in the tank and call it a day!
I put 2.5 liters in, start the sled for a few seconds, let it sit for a few and put the remaining oil in. Should be pretty darn close to full mark!

X2 ;)!

When you drain the oil out of the block make sure you remove the correct bolt. I think it's the one with the triangle next to it. Use a mirror to look at it...you'll see what I mean.

Good call! ;)!

I always raise/jack the front of my sled up during the drain step and can usually get another 1/4 to 1/2 liter out of the tank and engine.

Figure, WTH, I'm changing my oil and filter anyways so I may as well get all the old oil out that I can. :dunno:

X2 I believe the engine drain bolt is the only one with a copper washer under it.

so I don't have to fill anything through the top of the motor when doing this? Also when I drop the dipstick in it wants to sit in a off position, so my question again would be do the threads have to touch the tank when doing it I hope you guys under stand what Im asking and also the oil amount is 2.5l for an o9? Thanks again

Reply sent Dmarks.

Good luck ;)!

Do I only remove the drain plug by the filter? Or is there a second drain plug?

Other than draining the tank, removing the correct bolt next to the filter is all that needs to be done.

I also remove the two bolts from the bottom of the tank that hold the oil line and 90 degree connector.

There's a screen attached to the connector that I clean off. The screen is about the size of a half a roll of dimes. There always seems to be tiny bits of junk on the screen.

I did not know this! Good info!

Good reminder on the 90 degree hose and screen.. After draining I put two liters in, then start it for a few seconds.. Then add the last liter.. "VERY" important...Make sure the old "O" ring is off the motor block with the old filter... Do not over tighten the new filter..........Don't forget to hook the wire back on the top of the dipstick. MM.

Is there a gasket that seals the 90 degree fitting to the tank, or a reusable o-ring?
