Hey guys I have a question for u about my Brand new 2010 yamaha nytro mtx se.

So I brought it home today and I wanted to see how u take off the belt so I pushed on the secondary while rotating it and the belt came off easy so then I put it back on and spun the secondary but the belt didnt tighten up, so I started the engine and gave it a little bit of throttle but the primary just spun a little and the belt just slipped in the primary leaving a few belt marks but it still didnt tighten up in the secondary!
So I lifted the back of the track off the ground and spun the secondary while working the belt up the secondary and that seemed to work but I thought it should be be a little easier than that!
Can somebody tell me how change a belt properly I thought u would just put the belt on and start the engine and the secondary would force the belt tight again?

Hope this makes some sense!

Welcome to the site ;)!

I found that an easy way to do it, is to use a 12mm socket and ratchet on one of the helix nuts. Using the ratchet for leverage (becarefull not to overtighten the helix nut) rotate it clockwise while pushing in on the secondary helix. This will open'er right up!
To set the belt and get the secondary sheaves to close all the way, grab the belt and slide/rotate it backwards in the clutches. ;)!

I always just pop a track stand under the bumper and turn the secondary like a steering wheel. If I am on the trail i just push the sled forward.

Revster's tip of the day: take the parking brake off first. (I forget all the time.)

thanks guys for all the tips Ill give them a try!!
