Another funny tidbit said was that the Rush has no welds. Supposedly is all glued together. Glue doesn't melt until a significantly high temp (I forget the exact degee #.) You've got to be kidding me!

Does your friend sniff a lot of glue?

This is to funny...  could you imagine yourself jumping a few feet of the ground then once you land it all falls APART!!! having to pick up all the peices and bringing them to your dealer in a cardboard BOX!!! :moon: :drink:

IIRC, Yamaha started using glue to put frames together on streetbikes like 5 years ago.

It actually is a sound construction method applied by some exotic sports cars as mentioned previously.

Also, the rush was not "rushed" into production. This idea came out at least a year ago, and I am sure the chassis has been tested quite a bit.

horkn: I'm really concernd about the Rush if only was a Polaris (idea) concept last year as you stated. That is 1 year & now market ready. That is a disaster inprocess. If your facts are correct the customer wil be the test bed for Rush.

Business

It’s always bout ROI. They need to make good sleds to get the ROI. Not a bad thing just a business thing.

I have been looking at several sleds (models/makes) to replace my warrior. I quickly eliminated Polaris and Cat but Skidoo has some good sleds. It’s not a easy call, each has advantages and disadvantages.

One thing I can say is the Skidoos are holding thier value at least was well if not better than the Yamahas.

Looking and leaning has been fun but I'm ready to ride. Got my cast off last week and the hand is coming back. Now to get a ride before the season is over!

I’m leaning towards an attak but there is a ’06 MXZ Renegade in the area with 400 miles on it that is making it a tough call.

Doos not like Yamaha plan down time on 2s for sure. Doo 4s don't know yet but have 4000 trouble free miles on non current 2007 Attack GT. Blew 800 2s engine at 4000 miles on doo & bunch of other headaches along the way....very expensive to fix. Attack only been back to dealer for oil changes. No comparison Yamaha only way for me.

mighty is right, they were going to shut down the sled back in 2004 and were worried about shutting production line down where the sled spot was. What to do with the employees. I waas told they were going to run till 2010 and want to own the market by then or be 1st or they might shut down. they have no proffits in sleds

Yamaha dealers in my neck of the woods sold out & waiting for semis with more 2009 sleds. We are in snow belt & dealer network has consolidated (Less dealers) but those that are healthy are very healthy.

Don't laugh about the use of "glue" - the marine and aerospace industries use significant amounts of "glue" (actually highly engineered structural adheasives) to bond structural components together. In most cases the structure will fail long before the "glue". These structures are subject to far greater stresses than the sleds will ever be subject to.
Only problem with use of structural adheasives is that when the structure requires repair the "glue" cannot be removed as simply as rivets or spot wields.

Polaris Faithful are not so faithful any longer. A lot came to Yamaha & some went to doo. Most riders owned a Polaris at some time but few consider them any longer. It was a long fall down but well deserved.

i was a polaris faithful till they produced and sold there 05 06 all were junk, now i ride a dependable sled a yamaha :4STroke: apex mtn heavy yes but built like a tank

Yamaha can't own the market until they get the weight out, they must offer a 150hp sled that weighs 100lbs less than than the Apex. The probability of this happening is slim. I think Yamaha sleds are precariously positioned in the market. I can see the day when they may not offer sleds. If they don't, it may open the door for Honda to enter the sled market. This is speculation, only time will tell.

Yamaha has a big market share now.. I believe Polaris will be the first to go under... They were almost there because of the Fusion..

I believe Yamaha can own the market in a heart beat. They choose not to move at that fast of a pace... They will do it at there pace... If their sales were as good as their bikes, we would have a new sled every year, but they are not, so their priority is else where..

Yamaha has the 4 stroke market. The other's are moving slowly and gaining, but they still don't have the best 4 stroke sled. Yamaha still does.. If the RX-1 did not force them to shut down, then nothing will, since it's only been up from their in pretty good pace. They went to 4th in sales to 2nd..

I strongly believe AC or Cat will fold soon and that will really open the door. I believe it will be Polaris..

And somebody will buy them up and start making sleds again. As did Cat when they were bankrupt. Nobody is going nowhere, drop it already. Bad times and poor decisions from all, maybe. Who's right and who's wrong. But one bad year won't hurt any of these guys yet. HOW long will the recession last. Aleast the good ol' US of A has got a real prez now that even speek in understandable sentences. "You can fool me once," is gone and Obama needs to pull it all together. Bush fooled the whole world.

I was looking at the currency markets trying to see why yamaha does not build something which can compete with the XP/XR weight wise.
1 $ Can = 77 yen
1 $ Can = 79 cents US
1 $ US = 97 yen

If BRP and Yamaha each build a sled for the same cost, say $10 000 Can or 77 000 yen, and sell into the US for $ 12 000, Doo gains an additional $1000. Or yamaha has to cut out that much engineering/development.
Feel free to correct me. Its late here.

there fixed it for you

I think our new prez will bailum all out. all they gotta do is hold out their hands like everyone else. The rich will get richer and the middle will just find it harder, and the poor will keep hoping for more assistance. Making us all needy to the gov.

GOD help us all!!!
