Guys, in an attempt to keep your nitrous setup a secret can one use the headlight dimmer switch as the nitrous power switch?

I would think it should be possible but is there an easy way of doing so that is undetectable to others?

Hum..... now that I think about it. I plan to use the BOSS/NOSS system. It uses it's own power source and not the sleds power so it may be tough if not impossible to use the machines dimmer switch.

If that's not possible what other ways is there to hide the big red switch?

Thanks.

Frosty

I wouldn't advise you to use the dimmer switch. It requires a momentary switch, where the dimmer switch is an on/off switch. The scary thing is if it was used, and you would fall off, let off the throttle, or lose control momentarilly, you could really damage the engine, and/or yourself.

My switch is located by my left thumb, and is not noticeable unless you really look for it. I will post a pic of it later.

(Remember that nitrous should be turned on at 3/4-full throttle only.)

I too installed a switch on the left (air horn button). If you look really close, you'll notice a flat area just perfect for installing a switch. I picked one up at radio shack for a couple bucks. It's black and looks factory. Nobody has ever noticed it there.

Mighty, do you have a Radio Shack part number? Stealth is what I'm looking for as well.

NOSPRO, point well taken on the dimmer switch idea.

Frosty.

How much time does a NOS shot (60 hp) knock off your 1/4 mile times as compared to stock?

I plan to use two 40 hp shots with a BOSS system. Is that safe?

Hey Frosty - I just received (2) 40 horse nozzles from Holtzman, and will try soon.

As far as times on the asphalt, with 48 horse, I gained almost a full second from 10.998 to a 10.060 in the 1/4.

NOS PRO I was going to go with a Holtzman setup too because I am using his ATACC on my sled and it is supposedly compatible.

I am now focused on the BOSS/NOSS because of the price and the ease of installation.

Do you see any reason the ATACC wouldn't be compatible with the BOSS/NOSS system? After reading the installation instructions I just don't see why they wouldn't be compatible.

I'd guess a 80 hp shot of nitrous should be good for AT LEAST one full second in the 1/4 mile?

I don't have the part number, just ask them to see there assortment of switches. They have bins full of all different types.

seams like you would want and on/off switch and a thottle activated switch, maybe tied to the TPS, maybe something mechanical. your dumping some coin for a NOS system, why have it controled by a doorbell?

I tried to figure out a way to hook up the switch to the throttle, but couldn't think of anything because of room down by the carbs. TPS switch comes off/on just after a touch of the throttle. Remember that you need 3/4 to full throttle for the addition of nitrous.

Frosty - If 48 horse gave me just under a full second, I am figuring about 1.5 seconds with 80 horse.

Will try 80 on the asphalt this spring.

I set mine up with the ground on the back of the throttle so that when you were full throttle it opened the silinoid and I had a on off switch that I used when I didn,t need to use it, I used a small screw in the grip and one in the throttle with the ground wire run to it. at full throttle the two screw heads made contact worked good.

snowy, could you post a close up pic if possible? I was awayus thinking of the power wire, and never thought of the ground wire. Just have to make sure there is good contact.

I don,t have a pic of it I had it on my 2 stroke for three years worked flawlessly but I have a turboed rx1 now so I don,t need it any more,

Saw mcgiver the other night... he said get a polaris kill button.... small round red button used on some stock polaris sledss....

i like to use a kill switch from a dirt bike, also could use a micro switch, waiting on msd rpm swich.. seem to work good on road bikes...
