I was running the sled on the stand after repacking the bearings on the mono they all spin fine, and the track stops when I let off the gas, no coast to a stop like my two strokes is this normal?

I bought the sled mid year last year and rode it but never any time up on the stand.

The tension seems good, some mid sag with no wieght of about 3/4 inch. with the skid out I could turn the track easy while I studed it. and yes the parking brake is off. New chain case fluid.

Buddy said this is the Compression braking ?

What do you think

Yeah, that's just because the skid is hanging there...nothing to worry

Thanks guys

I spoke with my dealer and he said that is normal, he sells a kit for wheels between the front edge of rails. I think I will live with this as my front slides were not overly worn here.

Compression braking will not stop a track from turning when on a stand. If the engine is still spinning forward, the track should be ALMOST turning forward also.

It may indeed be normal for a Yamaha that's set up to factory specs, but that's not necessarily a good thing. I agree with 4fighter that this sounds like a deflection issue. But it may be a combination of other minor factors you may want to check. I've found these Yamahas have more track and skid resistance than any of the other 3 brands I've owned and worked on. But that resistance can be easily reduced.

My 07 had way too much belt deflection when I brought it home from the dealer. Plus too much track tension. The combination locked the track up pretty tight on the stand, and it sounds like yours might be similar to how mine was.

I reduced my deflection and loosened the track a bit, and I added SLP wear pads. So now when mine's on the stand it still generally won't move at idle, but will creep forward a bit when barely touched as it should. When I gas it the track will coast slowly and gently to a stop, but it takes a while. I will find out if my track is set too loose when I get a chance to ride it, but I doubt it...it's still fairly taut...just turns much easier than it did when I first brought it home in dealer prep form.

I found the same thing. Although after a 40 mile ride and putting the sled up again the track would move on it's own and or require a very light touch.

Thanks guys, I will check belt deflection and track tension/ THat makes sense.
