Hey guys, I've been out of the game for a few years. My last sled was a yamacharged 06 RTX. Recently, to start getting back into riding I purchased a lightly-used 06 Apex ER. Immediately I came on here looking to have half baked do their beef up kit to the rear suspension arm. They did a wonderful job on my last Apex and it held up very well. I was disappointed to hear they no longer offer the beef up kit.
So is my only option to purchase a new one from Yamaha? I don't see any cracks in my current one but I'm a big guy and I ride hard so I'm sure it's only a matter of time.

Seems like you took a step back in sleds. Yes its probably been 4 yrs or more since half-baked offered their beef up solution. I don't even think Brian has been on this site for a few years.
If it were me I'd ride the thing till the arms start showing signs of cracking. At that point I'd replace the cracked arms with the updated arms. I think its 2008 and newer that are the beefier arms.
I had Brian weld mine about 5 yrs ago and they are still holding up. gonna pull the skid shortly for my annual end of season check and do an inspection.

Oh I definitely took a step back in sleds, I got completely out of the sport several years ago. Sold all 4 of my sleds, bought a new house and moved. But lately I've been wanting something to do in the winter so when I saw this ape for sale and had the cash to buy it I grabbed it.
I'm not interested in putting the money into the sport that I use to but I want a decent ride. I ordered a custom progressive rate spring and I plan to revalve the shock. I know how I ride and I know I'll probably destroy that front arm like I did last time. I was bummed to see pioneer was no longer around too but I got Bruce's contact info. Anyway what I'm thinking is I'll just ride it for now and keep my eye out for a front arm off a newer Apex.

I find this interesting since I am in the process of upgrading the skid on my RX1 with a mono from a 06 Apex
Before I install it I may just beef it up myself, I have a welder and can make gussets for it and weld them on. I even have a powder coating setup that I used in an old businesses I had making fishing lures.
I would like to find some pics of the beefed up arm if anyone knows of any I would appreciate seeing them

If you do a search of either "mono beef up kit" or welterracer, there may still be some pics that Brian posted when he was doing the work. That should give you a template to go by.I find this interesting since I am in the process of upgrading the skid on my RX1 with a mono from a 06 Apex

If you strike out on the search for pics, let me know and I'll shoot some pics of mine in a few weeks when I have the skid out.

You can gusset the stock arm, but 08 arms are really the way to go. Larger diameter limier strap tube. I have seen the half baked arms fail where transfer rod attaches as they did not add any gussets in that area like the 0em arm has.
Pretty sure you are the guy that ordered the spring. I have some good used 08+ arms here if you want one.

Yes that was me that ordered the spring, I love your site, tons of good stuff. What kind of price would you give me on a good used newer front arm? Maybe could ship with the spring.

MY FRONT ARM BROKE THIS YEAR AFTER 10,000KMS OF BEATING ON IT.
WAS DONE BY HALF BAKED AS WELL. BROKE RIGHT IN HALF BETWEEN WHERE IT WAS BEEFED UP.
BOUGHT A NEW UPDATED ARM AND FOUND A NEWER USED ONE AS WELL.
DIDNT GET A CHANCE TO WELD IN REINFOREMENTS BEFORE I INSTALL BUT WILL TAKE OUT AND MAKE THE IMPROVEMENTS HALF BAKED

Yup, getting an updated one from BOP would be the way to go. But if you need before and after video of the skid with a beef up, I will share my video from way back when. Of course, I had half baked powder coat it as well.
That was a tough one to swallow for cost, but it did turn out beautiful!!
