I shimmed my pilots.Conditions vary everywhere but these skiis do not dart ever and since I added the 6" shapers they dont push in powder.Really happy with my front end now. With my stock skiis I did have to reshim them about once a year since the rubber distorts permanently after awhile.

yamahas said:hey soul quick question. How log did it take you to install the skies? they are coming in on monday and i close the store monday and leaving Teusday for a day ride with a bunch of guys.
It took me about 10 minutes to install the skis. Unbolted the stock ones bolted on the slydogs. It doesn't get much easier.

Pay attention to which way they want you to put your rubber blocks in, and you may have to bend, push, twist, grunt, a little to get the ski bolt hole to line up, but you'll figure that out.
All that other stuff you mentioned, is just my headache, because i'm never satisfied, lol.

C&A sent me some blocks and i had to get on the phone and try to figure out which way they go. (and i still don't know if they're right!) I never payed any attention to what way the stock ones were in either. Just a little tip so your '10 min' job doesn't turn out to be a head scratching, hour on the phone job, like mine. lol.
I don't kniow where your limiter strap is, but i had mine maxed, so i couldn't even turn the bars to point it towards the trailer the first time, lol, i had to back off a little, lol.
I don't know how much time you have on the stock skis, but you're going to love the new ones!
Enjoy.

Biggest thing is make sure the front of the ski tips up in front when off the ground.

^^^ I think mine sit level, so think i should shim accordingly to raise them up, say an inch more then the rear?

Well, i spent an hour trying to align my front end tonight. The mount holes for the tie rod ends are ovaled out i noticed. I tried to find a 'nuetral' with all the slop. I'm about 1/8" toe-in max, to about 3/8" toe-out max. (pushing out and pulling in the ski tips) I'm assuming while riding the skis would tend to pull outward, as in toe out?
I pushed it down, measured, pulled up, measured, repeat 20 times, etc. We'll see. Hope my bars are some-what straight too. This is getting old!

yeah I went on my first ride today with my 08 and it was all over the place. I went home and checked the alignment and it was toe IN about a 1/2 inch. No wonder it was fighting me. aligned it to 1/4 out like recommended. Hopefully this helps out among the other changes that I made. When you flip the rubber ski mount on 08, which way is forward. I don't know if it has been done already or not on mine???

Should the stock rubber bumpers have the higher edge in front or rear for the stock position and do some turn them around instead of shimming the rear ?
