No more painted tunnels for Yamaha.

I think both painted and natural aluminum can look good, depending on the color scheme of the sled. I did notice that the black paint was wearing off my floorboards after just 300 miles, while my '99 Arctic Kitty's black floorboards still looked good after 7000+ miles.

i like a aluminum polished tunnel lots of cool points! a painted tunnel is ok, i prefer aluminum but wouldnt shy away from painted (i would just paint it yearly instead of polish it) one thing i never understood was why they never put a black tunnel extension on black tunnel ATTAKs (LTX) ps. it does not take all summer to polish the tunnel usually 1 night to keep it up and well worth it IMO
Good idea, I think I'll paint my tunnel extension black to match my black tunnel. :jump:

blurred vision,

Your reasoning seems a little strange. Your telling us, that if yaaha rolled out the perfect sled for your riding style, with an amazing new engine and chassis, if it wasn'tpainted, you wouldn't buy it?

Painted tunnels

I was told by my Cat dealer (back in BY - Before Yamaha) when I was riding Cat's and they went to a ploshied tunnel that the reasoning was a painted tunnel was 7 pounds heavier than a bare one. Once you have it polished and if you keep up with it they are not that much work.

Hi V-max 4, I would not buy new because the painted tunnel is nicer and yamaha did not change the apex. If they did come out with something extreme and it did not have a painted tunnel, the first thing I would do is paint the tunnel. I did that to my 03 silver rx1 when it was new and it looked way better.

That's all I have to say about that.

I wonder if the Cats are powder coated. My 2000 Cat has little wear on the floor boards. Looks like new. My Warrior tunnel looks terrible.

The painted tunnel I just cleaned with Castrol super clean and a cloth. A few minutes and done. Polishing my Warrior tunnel will be a chore.

I'll just leave it ugly!
