I read all the relevant posts i could find but didn't see a definite answer, so im going to ask for all to see.

I need to buy some rivets, lots of them, and likely will be ordering them from McMaster-Carr. The Yamaha Rivets are overly expensive in my opinion and from what i see they are not anything special. Am i incorrect?

I am going to be installing BetterBoards and i need to replace my right side bulkhead, so im going to be riveting myself silly. While i am at it a under tunnel exhaust will be fitted.

From my best guess, these are the correct ones?

High-Strength Dome Blind Rivet for Wide Thickness Range. Aluminum, 3/16" Dia, .062"-.270" Material Thickness, part number 98778A501
$10 per pack of 50.

Or should i go with Stainless rivets?

Just go to a distributor of Avdel Stavex rivets, and get the same rivet (or similar) that Yamaha uses. Ironically when you visit the manufacturers product page a pic of a SRX is shown.

If you need more info, post or send me a PM with which rivets you are replacing.

Over the years, Yamaha has used almost 100 different rivets (likely due to supplier pricing or overzealous engineers), but you can replace with as good or better from a list of 10 or so.

Here is the website http://www.avdel-global.com/en/products ... avexr.html

I took a look at the link you posted . . .

That is a structural rivet like the Cherry Interlock. However, it is Alum / Alum and isn't any stronger than the Stavex. Also it will leave a large bulb on the backside which can cause clearance issues. Another downside is poorer hole fill and material grip qualities. The only place Yamaha used these was in high stress areas, but they used Steel /Steel versions which are as much as 3 times the strength.

Point out which rivets you plan to replace, and I will look up the part numbers and get you a better replacement choice.

Also, they are 50 cents a piece. If you need 1000 or more you can likely get them for less than 20 and maybe 15 cents a piece.
