Not getting full shiftout

The fact of the matter is that some people are riding in perfect conditions for speed and only seeing 85mph..that is an issue and it's not because of lack of hp. Everyone knows that a turbo on the viper would be and certainly is a blast but the large majority of the people aren't going to put out the extra $4000+ to get a turbo. The people having the issues with only seeing 85mph in perfect condition aren't looking for the response of what someone's turbo viper will do. Belt/clutching is going to be an area to look at and slide rail drag is another area which I'll be experimenting with this week.

I just sold my nytro xox. If it's the same engine I expected at least the same results. It would run 95 mph in any conditions, then on hard pack would run 104. I did and would like to at leAst seen the same results. Being blown away by my buddies on there 1200 dodos not so much fun.

I am not expecting 100 miles an hour I am very happy with 85 my problem and maybe I used the wrong term was that I am not seeing full rpm. The highest rpm I am seeing is 8400. I have seen 8900 once and that was after I set the throttle cable too tight and it engaged the TORS. So my question is why am I not seeing top out rpm and how do I change this to see full rpm.

Are those GPS or speedo speeds ?

I'm sorry, but I have to disagree with top mph. I am seeing 96-98 everytime I take it out and that is on loose snow, where everybody runs slow.

Steve, you know anywhere we could do some testing? Don't give up

Ryan466 - I will be checking to see if the clutch doesn't have the shift out like you say. I changed my clutching and I am at 8,850-9,030 and gained 6mph.

NOS-PRO, I was just curious as to what you changed on your clutching? did you go with a whole clutch kit or just play with the stock clutching?

My procross turbo in stock for would only run about 112. That sled had what 50 more hp then the viper. I don't think your going to see high MPH readings without some boost.

What speed are these geared for? The XTX is geared for about 80 to 85 right? Anybody do the gear ratio math? My 2014 M8 is geared for about 75 to 80 at 19 top 50 bottom.

I`m really not looking for high mph, i`m just trying to figure out what I need to do to get more rpm, i`m about 600 rpm short and don't really want to dump $400 on a clutch kit. I`m by no means a clutching expert, I`m just curious if anyone has messed with the stock clutching at all and what the results were

Pull the weights out of the primary and knock the rivet out of each tip.

thanks TurboJamie, right now I have 300 miles on my rtx, from a dead stop it pulls 8750 and drops to 8410, do you think it will loosen up yet or should I pull a rivet? conditions were 1000-1200` road with 2" hard pack snow on it, I ran over and over with the same results

Temp? Humidity? Elevation? Rider weight?

the times I have had it out it has been in the mid teens for temp. no humidity, elevation is 0. with my leathers on I would be 270# and I am running 135 studs down the center

The thing that kills a sled the most is when it revs high at first and then falls off a few hundred rpm. That takes a long distance to really make that up for the rpm to come back around. Seems to me like these posts all say the same thing. Rpm isn't getting quite high enough and then it falls off. There are aftermarket weights out there that will take care of that problem and are very easy to install and tune. Any aftermarket clutch kit maker I'm sure can send you a set of weights to throw in and be pretty darn close if not spot on for rpm and you won't have to pay the $350-$400 price of a complete clutch kit

I have to be honest with you Studroes, last year I bought a clutch kit, air box and pcv from a very popular company for my 2011 apex, I had a lot of problems with hitting rpm and slipping the belt, needless to say the "customer service" wasn't the best and after weeks of trying I finally took the parts off and returned the sled to stock, it was faster stock. I don't have a lot of faith in some of the aftermarket performance companys after I spent $900 and got slower.
