I don't see why everyone is drooling about the 06's. I admit that they do look nice and look good on paper, however they are not all that! Fuel injection is great, but so is being able to change your plugs trail side. Looks like an hour job. Even all the YAMAHA REPS(including mechanics) had a real difficult time removing and installing all the panels. As for rider forward?????? My 05 with arc bar risers, and a taller seat gives the same sensation. They do ride nice and handle nice, but so does the 05 RX1. Remember, they use the same rear suspension. The Attack is an improvement however. I do wish I had the mono, but thats it. And how about the goofy names? Oh well, just my $.02.

Have you ever changed your plugs on the RX on the trail? I've had no issues so far, and haven't seen anybody with RX1s a few with 8k - 9k miles, 1 with 20k miles) have problems so far.

Ive never changed the plugs either..

Warrior suspension isnt as nice as the mono..

plus the apex is alot lighter than the 04-05 warrior

Have you added up how much money you had to dump into your sled to make it what you wanted..?

As for plugs, I have had to change mine twice and my fathers 05 once. I also heard several people telling the reps this weekend that they had to change plugs as well.

I have spent alot less money getting my sled where I want it than I will loose going to an 06 that still won't be as good as it should be for 10G large!

You can't compare an APEX to a Warrior for weight, they are not even close to the same sled. According to Yamaha the Attack will only loose a handfull of weight over the Warrior.

I not trying to bash the 06's or anything, they do have some great new features. Just nothing substantial. I feel the hype is greater than the product.

It's generally the '03 guys who are drooling over the '06's...and with good reason! I had the opportunity to ride a bone stock '03 RX1 this past weekend for about 10 miles and when we switched back...we were both left with the feeling that the '03 is a POS...it's like riding an entirely different sled than the '05 RX1.

The biggest reason to upgrade to an '06 is the monoshock skid. Those who have the NoAction have a compelling reason to upgrade. Those of us with the '05's do not. Simple as that.

After putting another 250 on this weekend...if the Apex handles and performs better right out of the box for a super aggressive trail rider than my '05 the way it is set up...then I simply can't imagine it.

Maddog everyone has their own opinion and that is great, but IMO the 06s are significantly better than the 05s. First of all, look at what you did to your 05. You spent a considerable amount of money modifying your 05 to almost the same as an 06. You added Ohlins, wider front end, thicker seat, bar riser, and lower windshield; all of which come standard on the Apex GT. You also added ECP filters which brings the HP close to an 06. The only considerable differences left are the addtion of FI and the postion of the rider 6" further forward. Now if you wouldn't have done all this work to make your 05 the way you like it you would be drooling too...
BTW, your sled looks great!

after spending all the money on the wide front end kit and all the extras i wouldnt sell your sled either.. it probobly handles really well..

I personally only bought the 04 warrior because i knew the warrior would ride better than the standard RX-1 because of the clicker shock.. AND IT DOES..

Im ready to go back to a short track now and have the handling of the viper back too..

EFI should never have the plug fouling issues of a carburated engine... the metering is so much more precise and extremely adaptable to conditions. I wish my Rage had EFI...
