Looking at picking up a used XTX, however I would like to make it a sled that I would be able to use off trail (mainly riding unbroken woods roads). I know that to put a backcountry track on the nytro you need to take off the tunnel protectors. What I was wondering is could you notch the track where the protectors are so that you would be able to leave them in? I ask this because I may want to stud the sled with a cobra track at some point too. Thanks for your help.

I notched a backcountry for a friend about 500 miles ago. He rides like an idiot, has raced down a gravel road and so far the track is holding up great for him. No missing lugs yet. That is my experience with notching a backcountry!
