Has anyone ever seen a nytro (non-mtx) with a 180 kit go against a arctic cat turbo sno pro? Just wondering with a clutch kit, and exhaust on a nytro how close it would be, being the nytro has a lot of low end torque, but the cat is pretty darn light. Opinions? Mpi kit btw

I dont think the cat would even have a chance, long as the cat was stock
I have never seen a stock cat turbo to be honest. Im thinking the cat for weight reasons and easy upgrades.

Oh ya I agree with that. I'm just thinking outloud a boosted 180 nytro with an exhaust setup dialed in at 195-205HP compared to a Cat with an exhaust on it? Obviosly both clutched.... That hijacker setup on the cat with some exhaust work etc is the $HIT!! Just need to see a few years of dependability myslef before I jump
180 MPI kit wont make close to 205 let alone 195. Go for a bigger kit if you want more then 180hp. Cat will be way better on pump fuel too.

Went stage one at 9lbs with head shim, pcv setup, and exhaust. Also machined the clutches and geared it to get a tad bit more. This should keep up with the low end hijacker on the cat, but not the big boy hijacker setups. That's more apex territory

A turbo Cat is still heavier thn a Nytro....probably close to the same weight once you boost the Nytro....IMO, both clutched, Cat stock and Nytro with a 180hp kit...I say the Nytro wins in 1000'...cat will pull it on the top end due to more efficient chassis. No matter what you do to a Nytro, It just seems the chassis is not efficient enough to make good top speed. I think it would be a great race though. You'll have to let us know how yours works out with the 128 kit...maybe that will help improve top end.

A modded Nytro, not even boosted will give a Cat a run for there money in a 1000feet. In stock form the Cat is slug... Both Clutched? You would still have to shim the Primary on the Cat in order to get it come out of the whole and give it any chance at all. Slapping on a kit will not yield much of gain. YOu have to crack the primarty and shim it to grab the weight s better to make it work... But like I said, it would take so long for them to catch up to the Nytro...
Now stage 5 with anti lag and exhaust and the 3500 dollars in other parts that you need to make it run.... Well thats a different story....

I checked a few vids on youtube...wasn't a lot there for this particular race...however there is a couple of some hill racing...6psi Nytro vs 35psi Cat...Nyto edges out the cat for the win.

Ya Ulmer is getting 128 MPH on the dream O'meter on the track so far with this setup. So we will know more when I put my big #*$&@ on it LOL. Guess we will see..... come on snow!!!
FYI Dry weights:
529 lbs 2010 RTX, without boost weight, but I did remove some weight in the battery and exhaust

Having had my 09 XTX with Ulmers' 180 Turbo kit for last season and now owning a 13 SnoPro Limited Turbo that had 0 miles on it the Cat would not have a chance! Granted I only did some short WOT after about 60 miles on the Cat. I am hoping that after 400-500 miles the Cat comes alive. The lack of pulling your shoulders out of socket power is the ONLY thing that I miss so far.
My new Cat is a lot better riding and handling sled. The Fox Float suspension soaks up the bumps like you wouldn't believe. The handwarmers work great. The stock fuel tank and fuel mileage are also better than the Nytro.
I will report back after my first 500 mile service...

Nice sled...I wanted one too, but there were just too many issues with the Cats last year, even for a first year model.
I wish you the best of luck with yours...I hear they like to eat belts.

I love how that sled looks! So tough looking! Are you going to put the pump gas hyjacker setup in there and exhaust? Its amazing what HP gains you can get with a few simple mods on these. Fyi if you didn't know there is a after market beefier drive setup that matches the HP gains for the controller. Good luck and keep us posted
