can anyone tell me what the part number of the gear they are going to on the nytro to get more top end thanks ron :yam:

Not sure of the part numbers, but the stock gearing is 21T upper and 39T lower. Most would think you can just throw a 22T upper for more top end. However, a longer chain is required to do this. YAMAHA DOES NOT RECOMMEND THAT SET-UP. That chain is too long and requires too much adjuster bolt to snug up the chain. I found out the hard old school way. I ended up going to a 38T lower sprocket to allow the use of the stock 68L chain and new 22T upper gear... Admittingly, a pain in the #*$&@ and wallet. In my opinion, not worth it.. Didnt really gain that much. I have had to relearn and relearn, leave it alone and enjoy the ride.

nytro gears

i wish you guys had this talk last week i asked about gear ratio on nytro and nobody comented on it so i changed mine to 22t top and 38t bottom . i lost bottom, mid and top end and about 1 mile per gallon of gas . exspensive experiment ! i changed the top sprocket back to 21t and left the bottom 38t yesterday , ill try it this way 2maro and see if i like it but ill probably put it back to stock. by the way i have a set of new gears 4 sale

Nobody is answering because this subject has been beat to death. If you searched you would have found a mountain of posts on nytro gearing.
I went up 1 tooth & broke even.

Turk,

Have you experimented in overdriving a nytro with stock gearing? I did a search and couldn't find anything.
