okay guys heres the deal,
Nytro XTX is torn down for a Supercharger install,
Im halfway through, and i decided to scrap the yamaha mtn cooler, and do MPIs massive tunnel cooler and radiator delete. granted my sled is rear cooler virgin at this point, the yami cooler came with the SC kit.
problem is, I bought one used, and its not here yet, Im at the point in the supercharger install, where the charger is bolted in, and its going to get crowded in here fast.
Is there ANYTHING i need to do in here to route hoses etc for the radiator delete? or do i just grab the radiator hoses and route them down to the MPI cooler?
id hate to get the throttle bodies and the manifold in there, then find out i have to swap out a part behind all this crap.
trail tank is still off, all shrouds etc.
skid will be dropped to do the cooler install. doesnt look like fun.

Hello groomer, it has been over four years since I installed mine, but I do not remember anything special that needs to be done, it is all pretty straightforward.
I think you will be pleased with the end result the sled will run cooler then it did stock with the radiator. It's good to get some of the heat out from under the hood and lots of extra space. Good luck with the project.

well, i put the whole supercharger in, and just left the fuel tank and side panels off till i get the cooler. hope i dont have to get to the thermostat! its buried!!

You will need to get some type of fill bottle for the MPI cooler. I used an apex fill bottle mounted it on the left side of the sled up were the rad use to be. You will need to get to the T-stat housing to route you cooling lines. Also you will need to make sure you mount the MPI cooler far enough forward in the tunnel so the track won't hit the rear of the cooler. I just had to do that this weekend on mine. I have pictures showing the fill bottle mounting, hose routing & cooler mounting plus cooler remounting in my sled build on the nytro mountain section. Check it out & let me know if you have an questions at all. Its all easy to do just need to take your time.

Ok, i have the MPI fill bottle, and i think its a (rx1) fill neck, no bottle, just a small piece of hardline with a cap and vent tube, 1 mounting bolt too.
kit was used, with the RX1 neck.
to me it looks like the radiator to thermostat hose was cut and attached to the L shaped rx1 fill, and then a straight hose going down off the fill, to a billet temp probe adapter, then a twisty hose going down to the clutch side exchanger.
if i do that, the STOCK upper front heat exchanger hose looks like it would squeeze thru by the head and connect to chaincase side tunnel cooler.
OR
i could use the MPI bottle, cut this into my STOCK radiator-thermostat hose, run the front upper exchanger hose to the chaincase cooler, and one of the hoses on the rx1fill has a 90, this would hook up to the MPI bottle and then turn down, then go into the tunnel for clutch side exchanger.
dunno. im off to look at yamahas cooler instr. now. mpi is 3 pages, 2 that are full page pictures with little detail. 6 lines of instruction.
also dont see the too far back being a issue, if i go to the rear of the tunnel on a XTX the hardline almost pokes thru front tunnel holes, so theres not alot of extra room here.

read yamahas install guide, and looked at your pics edge.
your pics arent going to do me any good, as you only ran one cooler and used the stock yamaha hose locations, i need to get to the clutch side somehow. also you did funky stuff to dodge boost lines.
I have a trail tank, and have to account for that too. im trying to figure out what hose goes where. and where that bottle will even fit.
yamaha says the hose i have going from thermostat to lower front heat exchanger port gets removed, new hose goes from lower port to TUNNEL cooler, other hose goes from top of tunnel cooler to thermostat?
but this doesnt help me, as I have the other radiator hose? what do i do with that? if i followed there instructions i have a hose with no place to go.
and mpi in there 6 lines of wisdom doesnt clarify what hose goes where.
guess im shut down for tonight and call MPI in the morning/noon. silly west coasters getting up late. haha time zone humor

Sorry that didn't help. I have the newer double stack cooler. It's your 2 coolers sandwich together as 1 for an out and back type set up. When you give MPI a call ask to talk to Matt he knows his sh$t and was a big help when I installed mine. MPI's directions are something special and if you ask Matt he'll even admit their crap.

whats funny is I had a idea of what would work, but wanted to be sure i was right and MPI was like, dont overcomplicate it dude, make the coolant flow in a loop.
im like ok, but i was kinda confused as to why yamaha was going the opposite of what convection current would do, hes like ya, there system is a mess, make a loop, use whatever hose works, mount where you feel like it, cooler pretty much is notched to only fit one place. i was like OK, thats all i needed to hear.

Matt a great guy to work with. I just talked to him today about using / making a blank off plate in the tunnel that connects to the cooler. If you have any other questions just ask. Good luck on the plumbing.
