OK since I am totally new to the Yamaha scene and lovin every minute of it(previous ski doo fan) I recently had time to play with my XTX 240 Turbo and all I can say is wow!! Now, I am a flatlander but what I do know is clutching is clutching at sea level or not? A couple of things to mention is that when I was running the stock gearing(21/39) it seemed to hit the 9000RPM on any given day. After talking to Ulmer racing he suggested I gear up(23/39) since it is not a mountain sled but rather a ditch banger/lake/trail racer. So after gearing up it seems to have more pull but if their is like 1 cm of snow in my way the rpm will not pass 8600? It also labours quit a bit in deep snow and has a hard time getting 8200 rpm. Should I gear it back down?
Would you suggest to remove a gram or two in the tip since gearing up will load the motor a lot more. I guess you can say I would like to leave the current gearing in if possible and would rather make a few clutch adjusments if all possible? Please let me know what you clutching experts think????
