2011 FX NYTRO XTX
Does anybody know the dimensions of the ski keel and how deep it is compared to stock trail ski. Just wondering if it will be to aggressive for groomed trails if I put on my 2011 Nytro xtx.

I have MTX skis on my 09 xtx. I think the only difference is the width of the ski. You need MTX hardware to bolt them on. I am happy with them. On and off trail. Should be able to buy a used set cheap.

Lots of good reviews of the mtx ski with snowtrakers for carbides. I thought a long time about that setup but I ended up going with a set of Curves, very very happy with them!

Got some measurements today for you. The mtx ski measures 7" wide. The keel depth is the same as the stock xtx ski. The width of the keel on mtx ski is 1/4" narrower than the stock keel.

I have a set of mtx skis that were on an xtx nytro. Would be at $160 for the set with the ski rubbers, and spacers to mount. Not sure if I have the bolts anymore. Will have to confirm. The mtx skis use the same skags as the stock skis.

Also stock snowtrackers if you opt for that combo with mtx skis.

What are you running for carbides?

I'm running mtx skis on my xtx and love them. I forget the brand carbides but they're square wear bars with carbides.

I run the MTX skis with aggressive snowtrackers and wouldn't want to use anything else. The sled goes exactly where you want it to, zero darting, easy steering (for a Nytro), and obviously when you're off trail the MTX ski is nice. Snowtrackers are a bit pricey, but worth the extra cost IMO, and are pretty durable.

I'm planning on running the same set-up this season. I'm done with the stockers

The stock skis with snowtrackers work just as well on trail as the MTX w/ snowtrackers, as far as I've experienced. The snowtrackers are so tall that they are pretty much the only thing that engages the ground unless you're in deeper snow. I ran stock skis with snowtrackers on my Apex before I got my Nytro, and then on the Nytro for a couple of seasons, and that combo worked great. Switched to MTX skis + snowtrackers when I started to do more off trail for better flotation. So, I guess the bottom line is snowtrackers are where it's at for trail riding, add MTX skis if you off trail enough.

Unfortunately I don't get the opportunity to ride in deep snow much but for the few occasions I do I wish I had more floatation.

You can't go wrong with the MTX / snowtrackers combo. You'll love them for trail, and get the bonus of way better flotation when you pull into the powder now and then.

How many miles do the snowtrackers typically last. Seems like they would be vulnerable on hard pack trails and road crossings.

I'm always extra careful when crossing roads and RR tracks anyway, but they way they are designed I don't think they are more prone to catching on things than a standard carbide. I've never had a problem loading or unloading from various trailers either (and I would always get hung up on my tilt trailer loading my SRX 700 with standard carbides). I know they look pretty crazy with the amount of material that sits below your ski, but like I've said, they just work. I changed my previous set at about 6000 miles, give or take, and my current set has 2000 miles on from last season and they still look like new (apart from some surface rust).

depends on conditions of course but easily 2 seasons for me and I had one partial failer when I replaced mine. and then you just replace the center runner. I think I got about 3500 miles out of my first set.
