So I'm nearly at wits end with my Nytro. I have everything dialed in the way I want it and really like the ride, but still have overheat issues nearly every ride. I've completely flushed and changed coolant, added water wetter, added the MTX heat exchanger. I've also added venting to the instrument panel, and also wired my fan to a switch. Then to combat the ice buildup, I've blocked the tunnel. Still when I ride tho. I'll see average temps between 190-200, with spikes up to 210-230. If I keep the speeds below 50, the temps don't seem to rise much above 185, but as soon as I go above 60, it gets hot and won't cool down til I shut it off. So what can I try next??? Any advice would really help!

Just wondering, it sounds like you must have an aftermarket temp gauge installed if you are seeing those exact numbers, where do you have the sensor located? Ever try a different sensor or gauge in case your current one isn't accurate?

Its located in the hose behind the fuel tank. I'm assuming it's accurate because at 210, the warning light comes on.

Is it pushing coolant out the overflow? If it is my bet is a head gasket.
I've never had any coolant push out. I thought the same thing so I every morning before riding, I'd check the coolant level and the radiator was always full and the overflow bottle was where it should be.

Does anyone think it would be worth adding even more coolant capacity? I was looking at Mountaintech's tunnel cooler, I don't know if it's worth it?

If it doesn't loose antifreeze I wouldn't worry about it. All engines have hotter spots in their cooling system. Have you ever checked the coolant temperature in a different area?

Are you running scratchers?
What are the trail conditions, and air temps like?
For me, I will see the light on colder days when the trails are hard and not a lot of snow is being thrown up on the heat exchangers. When the trails get tough I just put down my scratchers an I have no more heating issues. Also I'm running a 50/50 premix coolant wich seems to help a lot over running the 60/40 yamaha mix.

I ride 90% soft, fluffy groomed trails(lots of lake effect snow) I do not have scratchers, do I have the rail mounted ones or ski mounted ones?

No I haven't, but I just figured if the warning light comes on when my gauge reads 210, it was fairly accurate. I guess I get nervous about riding around half the day with the temp light on

Is this a 09 Nytro and is it new to you? Just wondering how long you've had an issue. I've herd of a few cases where the radiator plugged do to lack of maintenance. With the engine warmed up put your hand on the front tunnel and mountain heat exchangers to make sure they are getting hot. Running 50/50 antifreeze gives -30 F freeze protection which is adequate here in the states. You may also want to change the thermostat.

It is an 09 and I've had it's since new. It's seemed better the first 1000 miles, but the last 4000, I've had issues. Every season I try something different, which brings me to where I'm at now. I will run the sled on a stand tonight and see if my coolers are getting hot. I changed all the coolant when I put the mountain cooler on 2 seasons ago, but I may still have a plug? I am running 50/50 antifreeze with water wetter. And thanks for the tunnel block off idea, I used your thread to make my block off

I found with my sled it was a problem with not enough cool air getting into the engine bay or not being able to expel the hot air. When I would start to overheat I would take my hood off and I would have no more overheating issue which lead me to order a full vent kit not just the top cluster vent. No problems ever since.

Which vent kit did you get?

There must be a blockage somewhere. I was out the other night, was 2*celcius, super hard pack, half snow half mud in some areas. And I never saw the temp light.

This is all stock cooling system, used penzoil premix coolant from walmart. I have one duraflex icescratcher (one got lost earlier in the season). With the added cooler and water wetter your temps should be way down.
