Installed a Mcx 270 kit on a 09 rtx se with alot of help from a buddy of mine. Last night we started it for the first time with the kit, it idles just fine but when i gave it a tiny bit of throttle the engine just stoped. Started it again and slowly increasing the throttle, it rev´ed up to 3200-3500 rpm and then died. So we disconnected the mcx ecu and just ran it stock but the problem remains. :o|

Every idea and tip is very much appreciated, if you think of something PLEASE! write it, no idea is stupid.

Since the sled is 30 miles away it would be great having more than one thing to check out =)

Best regards. Thomas

Sorry, forgot to write that we checked the t.o.r.s. atleast in the diagnostic mode. Also loosened the throttle cable, but no luck. If it is the t.o.r.s then the motor wouldnt die completly i think, it would just stutter and drop back to idle when releasing the throttle. Another thing that might be helpfull for you experts out there to know is there´s no faultcodes or engine lights flashing at all.
Thanks gouldsjett1 for responding.

Sounds ike might be the fuel system shutting off completely. The TORS or even inadvertently reading incorrect RPM and hitting a rev limit would not shutoff the engine completely, only intermittent misfire.
I know you mentioned that you disconected the MCX ECU, but keep disconnecting and undoing the things that you did during the installation until you uncover the gremlin. Make sure that nothing factory electrical (like a TPS sense wire, etc) was damaged or altered either, as it could be throttle position related too.
Sorry but that is the best advice I can give since I have not come across this exact phenom before.

check your speedo cable where it connects to your drive shaft under your secondary clutch. i had the same problem on my 06 apex. when the speedo sensor shorts out it shut it off at around 4000 rmp. hope this helps

Did you install a head shim on the engine? It could also be that the cam timing is set incorrectly.

Yes installed a head shim, it has crossed my mind about the timing being wrong, but would it idle as well as it does? You can´t tell something is wrong untill you touch the throttle.
Is there a "failsafe" if the timing is
wrong that will kill the engine? I´m just thinking out loud now, dont wanna tear it down if i dont have to.
I will check the speedosensor also

Speed sensor usually will set a code and send it into a fail mode like the TORS.

Well, the sled fired just fine, and ran good. What worries me is that the AF readings said 14,5 and would not change no matter how much you where on and off the throttle...even at idle it was 14,5. Fuel pressure was fine at 45.

And then, when we gave it enough throttle to start the turbo spinning, it came on good, but when he let off the throttle, the sled just dies instantly.

It fired again, and ran fine. Then, same thing happens again. Boost comes on, he lets off the throttle, sled dies.

Now it will not fire again. Not even a bit. No error codes, nothing. Engine turnes over fine, but it almost seems like there's no ignition. Could it have fouled plugs? Seems strange, but that's the closest I can come to a conclusion...

Well, I had to get a new motor for it....

Sled is now running...The owner has been out with it a couple of times and saying it runs like it's supposed to now...Will get it clutched correctly as soon as we get the flyweights...Hope to get it tested against a MCX to see how the verdict will be... I'm really glad to have it back together, and would not hesitate to get another Powderlites turbo...

Well i found the problem, pretty embarrasing though.:o|

Thanx for all the help!

Sorry, but I am LAUGHING my A#$ OFF HAHAHA! Would have liked to seen your reaction when you found THAT!!

Hahaha Dont have to apologise for laughing at it. I´m glad my sleds running now. and i´m sooo glad we checked that before we were gonna tear the whole sled down. Now i can finaly sleep at night. :tg:
