Nytro MTX 162SE, stock
Anyone had any problems with their TPS fritzing out? I have a 2010 MTX all stock. In the parking lot I was messing with the wires to a dead hand warmer and it started to show a code 15 and shut down. Previously I was having problems with the TORS whenever I got snow in the throttle so I've over ran that by connecting the two wires which were close to where I was testing voltage for the hand warmer.
I've ran diagnostics and the numbers jump all over. At times it's stable and others it drops. I brought the TPS inside to test resistance and it's good, 4.6. So I put it back in and the best adjustment I can get is 19 at closed and 89 at open using the diagnostic. But then I'll turn it off, turn it back on and I have a code 15. Traced the wires and no breaks and put some diaelectric grease on everything but it's totally spastic. When it's freaking out I get numbers like 5 at closed and 40 open, but then it will jump. I've never gotten above 89 no mater how I move the TPS. No idle or hesitation when it's working either.
Should I replace the TPS or is the issue elsewhere. I have a little play in the throttle lever. Unfortunately I'm about four hours to the nearest dealer.

OK, so to maybe wrap this up. I replaced the TPS and haven't had the code flash yet. Although, when running through the diagnostics I still get jumpy results. If it's stable at the time the new TPS reads 16 and 94, exactly what the old did. I talked to my dealer and they said they haven't replaced a TPS on a nytro so no help there. I also checked the voltage using a homemade jumper and I get a steady .66V which is interesting considering the diagnostic numbers jump all over. Anyhow all this leads me to think it's something related to T.O.R.S which I jumped. Anyhow, sled runs and it's snowing so who cares? right?

I bet your problems is the splice connectors on the wiring harness. I just removed 9 of them and soldered the wires together. Goto diagnostics and watch the TPS reading while you move the harness and connectors. If you find the reading moving around then it is probably one of them.

Care to explain further? I wobbled wires all over but I can't seem to find any changes due to my wiggling. I did check the continuity of the wires and they were good. I have had a code 15 lock up since, but I just shook the machine and it went away and hasn't come back. I have used a tweezer to wiggle each of the TPS wires with no change, but as for when it enters the harness... Can the FI harness be slipped out to check?

You might have moved it enough that it is making a good connection for now. The splices are little black pieces on the wiring harness. They are about an inch square and 1/8 thick. There are two right on the main wiring harness behind the big connector for the FI harness. Try twisting the one with the blue wires n watch your TPS readings. For the time it takes I would take them off and solder then seal them up. Yes you can remove the FI harness and check it all you need to do is remove the gas tank. There are 4 splices on the FI harness that you can omit as well. I had two different Nytros with intermidant electrical problems and that's what it was. I feel a lot of the gremlins in the Nytro comes from these connectors. On mine I'm removing them all.

You called it. I took of the sub-harness looked over the splices, they were conducting but all corroded so I soldered all four. However, didn't fix it. So I looked along the main harness and sure enough behind the clutch the wire rubs against the motor mount and had worn through the yellow wire of the tps. I pulled the wire back, coated it will electrical sealant and am hoping for the best. Thanks.
