I just bought a used 09 Nytro XTX with 1900 kms on it. I noticed the limiter strap was partially torn on the left side. I didn't think much about it at the time (it's the middle of the summer) and figured I'd just replace it before the season starts. However after reading a previous thread on this topic, I pulled the lower shaft off, and removed the straps to have a closer look at it. There is definitely a design problem here! The shaft is mounted too low on the rails. The tear is near the bottom of the strap just above the bolt. There is also considerable wear right at the bottom of the loop where it has been rubbing against the track. The loop is loose on the shaft even when the bolt is tight. When the suspension compresses and there is slack in the strap, the bottom of the loop rubs the track causing the strap to deflect forwards enough that the sides of the strap hit the drive cogs and tear the strap and cause damage to the cogs. Whoever picked up on this was pretty sharp! The strap on the other side was also damaged but not to the same degree.
Check them guys. Depending on your setup you might have the same problem. The longer the strap, the worse it will be, and worn hyfax will also make the situation worse - mine are still good. Make sure the loop is tight enough that it cant spin on the shaft.
Other than that I cant wait for some snow to light er up!

Welcome aboard Stew... BTW its not just the XTX that has this issues. Its a Nytro issue and can be found even when you swap the skid out for an aftermarket one. It is definetly something when you do an pre or post ride inspection to just take a quick look at to make sure you're good to go.
