I am looking to add more weight transfer to my Nytro XTX and have a question on the control rod (transfer rod). I search all threads I could find on adjusting the transfer rod and it was mentioned that if you see more threads you should have more weight transfer. After looking at the Nytro manual, it states that if you want more weight transfer to tighten up (shorten) the control rod - see attached. Intuitively this makes sense as it would allow for more ski lift but I wanted to make sure.

Has someone on here max out the control rod (less threads) with the limiting strap set to stock (fully extended)? I am trying to set up my Nytro to be a nice backcountry sled that can sidehill nicely. I recently removed the swaybar, added Fox floats (set at 60psi), and I want to max out the weight transfer. Also, I was planning on dropping another tooth to 19T.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

star suspension xtx kit is better. Makes the suspension work way better.

I was thinking about that last year but didn't pull the trigger. My sled works pretty well how it is; just need to add a bit of extra weight transfer into the mix to help throw the sled around in the deep stuff. Would be nice to walk the sled like a 146 Summit, but its not in the cards.

Mine is setup for full transfer alot of the year and it is alot of fun, but it does trench more, there are drawbacks for every change on these. With the power mods you have and full transfer you should be able to catwalk in most conditions

And to confirm, your control rod is fully threaded in (the control rod is as short as possible)?

X2 ... worth the money, along with revalving your shocks.

How are you adjusting your front shock preload with this setup?

I should clarify, I do not run the stock skid anymore but when I did, I did have the transfer rods setup for full transfer, limiter straps at second to last hole fully extended, and front track shock I took the weight off the front and hand tightened the spring preload pretty tight, not sure how many threads were showing. I also had my shocks worked for my weight and riding style. The revalved shocks made a huge difference from stock and if I still was running it I would probably do the star suspension fix also, the xtx suspension is very inefficient in stock form, and very very heavy.

No matter how you set the stock rear skid it will never have enough weight transfer especially for off trail. I lengthened the limiters all the way, stiffened center shock all the way, and increased the transfer rod gap to the max and still barely no ski lift. The STAR suspension kit fulfilled my weight transfer dreams! Now I can lift the front end any time and the ride is better too! Well worth the $.
