hey guys...
Would like some feed back on the xtx on the trails, handling wise,
Thinking of getting a nytro and leaning towards the xtx model, I like to play in the fields from time to time but also would like it to handle on the trail where I do most of my riding...
Or should I stick with the shorty nytro...?

Thanks in advanced...

Get the suspension upgrades if you want to be competitive on the trails. Not saying it's not good on the trails but if you drive fast fast with the updated suspension you won't be so tired at the end of the day .

as sprintcat said: suspension upgrades:
star suspension kit mountain tech front end...

you'll love your xtx with that...

As already stated You will need to upgrade the front and rear suspension to make it "rail" worthy :) I did all my shock upgrades and my rear suspension upgrade with used parts and installed JRE spindles up front. Total cost to replaces virtually every XTX stock part in the Suspension was $1,500.

Complete MTX SE Fox Skid $450. (used)
Fox Evol Front Shocks $650. (used)
JRE Front Spindles & Skid Kit $400. (new)

I almost sold this sled a few years ago because it had such poor trail manners and a general tippy feeling everywhere I rode it. Now the thing just plain rails corners and is nicely balanced in the fresh or deep snow. I rode a new Viper this winter and although a very nice sled mine feels much better on trail after upgrades. Now I can keep my Nytro :) I will say that stock for stock the Viper is much better but you can buy a used XTX Nytro and do the upgrades and have a better sled for much less $$$$'s

X3 few tweets and the xtx is awesome. Mine has the lowered front suspension from star and revalve. I can't get the skis to lift in the corners if I tried. Handles FLAT. Now I just need the rear star kit and I'm rockin. The xtx stock is not as plush as the competition.

I bought a XTX installed the full Star suspension plus revolved all four shocks. I added some side wind deflection a large windshield and dual hand gaurd mirrors. Oh also studded up the middle 116 studs. I also added a tunnel heat shield. Raised the bars 1" With this set up I am extremely happy. After today's ride I have racked up 2,368 miles and loving it. Oh I also added MTX ski's with woodies slim Jim 6" carbides.

Sounds like I'll be happy with the xtx...
I've been reading about the heavy steering the nytro has, how is the steering on the xtx on the trails once the mods have been done..?

With the tuner ski's I did notice heavier steering. But I was really surprised with the light feel but much better carving of the MTX ski's. The key is woodies slim jims. My front limiter strap is on the last hole. Remember I have a total Star suspension

Thanks alswagg2,
I am planning on getting the full star suspension, was just wondering how the steering felt in the corners...
Are MTX skis mountain skis..?

I'll be adding the Star Suspension upgrade to mine to improve the trail ride, but this thing really loves the ditches and open field fresh snow. I'm happy with the XTX. I rode 312 miles over two days in Wisc. and wasn't beat up or sore except for a few miles of mogul-bashing due to no groomer all season. I stood up for most of that anyway.

I must be a genius because I have replaced nothing on my 11 XTX, save for Tuner II skis, and it rails just fine.

Not meaning to be a keyboard ninja and start a fight but I'm sure there's a lot of different opinions on what the phrase "it rails" means.

Joking aside, I'm happy with my XTX overall, though I'm always looking for ways to improve it. My buddy with an 800 XP chassis Skidoo always gives me someone to chase in the twisties but the reliability of that 800 motor is just not something I want...
