I know nobady knows what the dry weight is on the Nytro XTX is yet but was wondering what Nytro owners feel about the weight issue on the 08 models. I had an 06 Attak and sold it to get an 07 Summit 800R. I felt the Attak was too heavy to do the off trail riding in Maine that I like to do so I went back to Doo, however the new XTX is interesting me and would consider coming back over to Team Blue if the sled isn't a tank like the Attak. Just wondering if any one has any input on this subject. Thanks

i came from a 05 mxzx 600 sdi and my nytro doesnt feel and heavier, but it sure is way faster

Realistically I think Yamaha's numbers (576 wet RTX) are a little optimistic. I think the RTX is closer to 600lbs ready to ride. I read a post somewhere that showed the MTX was actually about 20lbs heavier than advertised.
Now, here is the good news. They don't feel heavier.
My Nytro feels as light to me as my Firecat did in most cases. I don't think the front end floats as well, but I didn't expect it to. 4 stroke engines are heavier, period.
In my honest opinion, Yamaha has done an excellent job with the balancing and low center of gravity in these sleds. They truly feel as light as the two strokes, and the riding position is superb.
The only time you notice the weight is in the deep powder when starting off or turning, or when you are stuck LOL. The extra weight tends to make the front end dive a little in the powder. However, with a set of wider skis, the sled will feel as light as any crossover (with the obvious exception of the REV XP).
If I didn't already buy my short track, the XTX would definitely be my top choice in 09.

I dont feel the weight in the trails with my Sled.
in any off trail situation the nytro is a pig even with a 136x1.5 track. It needs at least 8 inch ski's or the front dives quickly and you get good and stuck. I had a hell of a time out west with it, the snow was deep and fluffy. I felt like I was riding a submarine and my buddy on his rmk was riding a jet ski, big difference.

Wider skis make a world of difference!

I will say that when comming up over banks and in the air, the nose will dive more than I'm used to, so you have to stay on the throttle a little more than I have in the past, or than my buddy does with his rev. I will say that I'm going to be going with a float plate soon, as I feel this and wider skis will help in the powder. Sled solutions had one on their site, but I don't see it anymore.
