I am not doughting the pahzer will go the distance with excelent fuel millage and relibility its going to be a great test of man and machine. We have very low snow conditions. There are lots of stumps, rocks and dirt. Pure Heck.
For those of you that would like to keep track tune into www.usccracing.com
Us guys racing the phazer in the I500 sure could use the suport of all the Phazer guys and Yamaha riders.
Yamaha has been having great sucsess with the phazer in the sports 85 class
I was looking to see If a phazer had compleated a 500 race, and I did not see one last year.
Sure means alot to have your guys suport. If anyone has anyquestions or sugestions I am open to them.

Good Luck with the race Steve.

We all know you're gonna give er!!!

Since I first heard of the I500 way back in the 70's I have spent many a sled ride dreaming of being a competitor in that cross country race.
I think I may have even won a few while on the trail to my cabin! ha ha

Two thumbs up from the Original Snow Terrorist.

OST ;)! ;)!

OTS YOUR THE MAN! I HEAR YOU. EVER SENCE I WAS A LITTLE KID I WANTED TO BE CAPTIN KIRK OR BRAD PAKE, THIS IS MY SECOND ATTEMPT AT THE I500. I HAVE A GREAT HELP, I HAVE AN AMAZING GIRLFREIND THAT SUPORTS ME ENDLESSLY AND I GOT THE PEOPLES SUPORT.
THE RACE TO ME , MEANS MORE THAT A $1500 PAY CHECK AND A PLAQUE. IT'S PRIDE. AT THE END I HOPE TO WALK AWAY PROUD REST MY HELMET ON THE YAMAHA PHAZER AND SAY I DID IT. NOW THAT WOULD BE LIVING THE DREAM.

If there was one race in all of motorsports i like to win,the I-500 is it. ;)! By the way,who won the Sport 85 class on the phazer at the last race and how were the snow conditions?

Trevor John won both days on a Phazer. He lives just north of me here and asked how to set one up. I helped him out and he was flying on that sled. Very talanted rider. Hope to see him on a Nitro in the Pro class.
Thank Guys and Gals. Good luck is what I need.

Is that the same Trevor John from 5-7 years ago that raced sno-cross?

Emerson, I can tell you as a witness you're going to do just fine if the sled holds together. Just make sure you check your spindles and put on some fresh a-arms if you have some lying around. You and Trevor look great out there proving the iron. All the veterans have ever told me about the I-5 is that it was the slowest race they ever rode, meaning you have to pace yourself like a marathon. Something like 75% of the starters didn't even finish the first day last year and a lot of them went out balls to the wall before the first gas stop and burned themselves and their sleds out. The snow conditions should be a lot better this year too, not ideal, but not bare ground like last year. The '07 race was fricken brutal. Good luck, man!

John Thank you so much, We are going to do the ball joints monday night. They were really bad. Trevor has alot of skill on a sled. Should see him at a couple more races this year.
We also found that the belt deflection was off on my sled causing the motor to over rev, I know I lost alot of speed when that happen.
The I500 snow conditions are not that good. Going to to be low snow in spots. Nathan P. told me the other day. Going to be a super hwy river section the first day. Thats awsome.
Yes you are right on the ODDS, I need to take it easy in spots that are shaddy, and make it up in good spots. When the work session starts need to make sure all the bases arre coverd to make the next day.
John that was an awsome picture. Pure dirt.

Yeah, you plow a nice straight row. Let me know when you're ready to plant! :tg:

Actually, here's a link that might interest you. MN DNR posts satellite heat imaged snow depths weekly on Thursdays. If you look at the week of January 10, 2008 the snow conditions are considerably better than Feb 15 of last year and are about on par with the week of the '06 I-500 which really wasn't that bad for snow, at least compared to '07. I've used this site to plan rides, etc for several years and found it to be pretty accurate. I'm sure Shaggy knows a little more if he's been "on the ground" there. Has he been riding the area a lot? They are supposed to get a little snow this week.

I just don't want to see the carnage that I saw last year. I acutally felt really sorry for the guys who ran last year. It's hard enough to come in 10th or something, but to wad up your ride in the process, that's no fun.

We spent all day trying to get speed out of the phazer. I cant get it to stop over reving. Needs more waight in the primary clutch.
