Re: OEM Lightweight rear suspension
Fit and finish in superb.
Had to cut out part of the steelplate bracket located around the old fixing point (inside tunnel) and then use this steelplate for the new front mount. I was a little bit worried for this but it was quite easy to perform if you have the right tool. So yes, you use the OEM bracket both outside and inside tunnel, but moves it 2 cm forward and 2 up.
Rear limiter strap is not used anymore.

Feels softer and 1-1,5 inches higher at the rear bumber.
Have to make new holes in the front chassis mount 8 (a little bit forward and higher) and drop bracket. You can now cut out most of the drop axle and save additional 2 lbs . I think 5 lbs saving in coming from the missing wheels in the rail.![]()
How is the fit and finish of these parts compared to standard...?
And how much did you have to move the front mount...?
Is it still located on the OEM bracket...?
Or, is there another bracket included in the kit...?

How are the mounting instructions...?
I assume you get some kind of mounting instructions with all measurements...?

Hmmm. What shall i say about the instructions?
10 pages. Black/white pictures with bad quality. But nevertheless the installation was quite forward. There was 2 types of blackes included you use for measurement for drilling new holes in the rail, drop brackets and chassis.
But its sometimes like when you see the installation manual and you dont have a clue, but when you start the installation it all goes into place. Thats how i felt about this.
If you are in the "weight saving mode" you shall install a lightweight battery from Odessy (PC310). It saves 11 lbs.

I am certainly in the "weight saving mode" and I have removed around 15-16 kg without getting too extreme. Anyway, that battery is a good weight saving. I seem to remember that the standard YTX20L-BS is 6.4 kg (14.1 lbs). I am currently using an YTZ10S which is 3.3 kg (7.3 lbs).jipettersen said:If you are in the "weight saving mode" you shall install a lightweight battery from Odessy (PC310). It saves 11 lbs.

YTX20L-BS is 7.5 kg on my scale. The Odessy PC310 is 2.7.
What else have you removed/changed?

If I try to remember it all on top of my head it would be a Skinz lightweight seat kit, a titanium / carbon silencer with carbon bracket, a two wheel rear axle kit, six idler wheels removed, parking brake removed, insulation removed, loads of small brackets removed or replaced, loads of titanium bolts and a low windshield. I wish I could also add the one kilogram weight saving from the MT-9 skis, but these suck big time so I do not use them...jipettersen said:What else have you removed/changed?
The dry weight (with empty fuel tank) is now 241-242 kg.

- 2010 FXNytro MTX 162 SE with a 270 hp MCX Turbo and assorted goodies!
I rode one with this suspension and a MCExpress 180 hp turbo. It had more weight transfer than I am used to and I was not sure I liked it. I am sure if time was spent to dial it in, I might like it, but frim the dealer I was not impressed.
