So I'm going to be putting in an order for OEM parts out of the USA, just wondering if there is anything I should put on it that is good to have spares of?
Right now the general things are a spare belt, and push pins, since I always seem to bust a couple. What other spare items are good to have on hand??
(Ive got a bunch of other specific stuff I know I need, just dont want to forget something simple)

Order the plastic push pins from Fastenal. I forget the part humber but as I recall it was a box of 25 for dirt cheap compared to the dealer.
Found it, here is a link to the thread:

I know some guys might be all over me for this but I'd pickup a starter relay and carry it with you. You might never need it, but for what it costs it's nice insurance. I had mine freeze up at -25, 30mph wind and pitch black. I'll never ride without a spare again.

When that thing freezes up, can't you put the key in run position and jump the posts to start it? Or will that screw something up?

Was also doing some reading on yamaha relays, and see the rhyno suffers from this.. They actually use nytro relay as a fix.. They mentioned warming it up in an armpit or something should fix it temporarily, to get it started.. That and dielectric grease to prevent any moisture in the first place.

I think you can if you can conveniently get to it.zeke66 said:When that thing freezes up, can't you put the key in run position and jump the posts to start it? Or will that screw something up?

Thats exactly what I did when iy happened. It's just that when its -30 and your frozen and want to get home, it's nice to have a spare to throw in and get going.

Ya order a box of pocket/hand warmers!! lol My wife carries about a 1/2 dozen in her bags. If your relay freezes you can use one of them on it also. Not to mention our warmers suck big time!!

Thats of course what I meant in the first place.Dimebag said:I would get a spare fuel pump relay.
It really sucks getting old. Maybe should tradein the Nytro for a walker, fewer moving parts and no relays.

Ok some more searching on this, I see mention of relays, and adapters, and updates relays.. etc..
So for those who have fixed/updated this problem.. What part numbers are we talking about?

Yup it's right beside the battery right in the open, you can jump it with a screw driver.

Is it the starter solenoid that goes bad? I know that the relays in the front nose can freeze up mainly the fuel relay. In 2011 they updated the relays but what about the starter solenoid? I heard that the later starter solenoids have changed the way they hook up so a 12,11 will not work on a 08,09,10. Is this true? So buy the 11 relays and buy your sled year starter solenoid and just use dielectric grease .
Anybody know about the starter can shed some light would be greatly appreciated...
I'm looking to buy some spare parts to have on hand too.
Thanks
andrew
